I hate that punk music. Ever since I turned 40.

Had a cow-orker tell me today that some bar here is a "Punk Club."
I said no it isn't. I've never been there but no it isn't.
She said yeah it is, every night there's 3 or 4 fights in there.
I said that doesn't make it a punk club. I know he had some form of 2 Live Crew in there but that ain't punk.
She says well it's ALL the music. It's stuff younger people like.
 I said it's music for punks then.
Well yeah it's not country or pop or classic rock.
So it's punk? You could see the WTF floating over my head at this point.
She says yeah it's so loud.
 said so you're too old for it (29) so it's punk.
I am not too old I just don't like to go in there except on Harley night.
When they play Bob Seger and shit?
Well no not Bob Seger, dance music, but it's really loud and I'm with people I know. Look I don't know it's just a punk club that's what it is.

I mean, seriously. This girl was in the army but otherwise has never left town. She keeps trying to tell me —Oh here's a good one. She was playing some nickleback bullshit I don't know what it was but the lyrics were lame and the music sounded like the Wiggles on a bad day and my standard joke when some horrible shit comes on the radio is I say what the hell are you listening to? and she says (whatever) and I went oh it's pretty bad and she says You don't like it? Well, it's alternative, that's why.

I think a lot of kids have broad exposures to music that I/we certainly never had pre-internet/cableTV but some people never let go of that need to conform. Ideally you conform by riding the Official Motorcycle of Rebellious Youth™ and listening to the Official Music of The Current Generation™ etc. forever.

I, too, have had the frustrating story of trying to find jeans, as well.  A couple of years ago, I was able to find the PERFECT fitting Lee jeans.  When I went back to the same store and bought the same size and style, they didn't fit.  My weight hadn't changed, but I'm guessing the Lee fit had.  Sigh.
