I caught the eclipse this morning but thought the blood moon from yesterday morning was more impressive.  One of the few times (very few) that I actually wish I had a cell phone to capture the image; most enormous blood red moon I have ever seen!{#Eek}

  I think in my life I may have seen more lunar eclipses than I have 6:00 AMs.  I decided I'd let this one pass.

From now on.....

But that damn link was a prominent link on the Portland weather page, which I don't understand. Oh well....

EDIT: Aw DAMN IT. Why did the Portland Weather site say 6:25????? It's effing OVER now. (It was probably some link they had to an eastern time article...GAH!)

About an hour ago, my cell phone started beeping... it needed to charge. So I got up to plug it in and Chester thought that meant he should go outside and whiz, so I let him out and saw Alexandra's post and thought Oh Hey I should google that and lo and behold it was time! I went outside and there was already a bite missing. Decided to put some pants on and watch more. Then I decided that nothing's more fun than sending kids to school with too-little sleep, so I got Augusta up to watch with me. So we skritched the dog and played with cats and visited about nothing until just now. It's still a Blood Moon right now, you can catch it coming out in a while...

Just got back from watching it with friends - starting at a civilized shortly after sunset. Friend had just set up monster 14" reflector telescope so we also checked out Mars, Saturn, and the double stars of alpha centauri. Beautiful night once the clouds cleared away.  Night-night.

A huge cumulus maximus cloud formed over Borrego Springs to our southeast at sunset.
The sun was hitting it, while we were in fading twilight.
It was so bright, it look like the sun was rising in the southeast.
As the sun sat on the cloud, the moon was stuck behind it glowing from behind.
And lighting was illuminating the inside of the cloud.
Awesome!
