Today's Woot writeup for a Dyson vacuum:

That Sucks

This is why we can't work ahead

Nothing sucks more than a Dyson! And this DC24 standup vac has 115 airwatts of constant suction power — so it will suck more than anything you can imagine. Even the suckiest performances in human history don't match the sucking power of a Dyson!

Imagine a sucky professional sports team — one that fails to accomplish the basic goals of the sport for more than a full half of the game. Will you believe us when we say that this Dyson is even SUCKIER than that? If this Dyson was a sports team, it would … we don't know … give the other team several points on the first play of the game. No team is that sucky!

That's right, we're 100% sure that this Dyson will suck more than anything else this month — or ever! And if we're wrong, we'll give someone one billion

It might have been shown live on satellite, which I don't have.  In any case, I was at work - across the International Date Line it was on Monday morning.  I did check in on the internet updates.  People here will basically watch any sport - even 'grid-iron' and it was mentioned in the nightly news.  I honestly think Australian Rules Football is a better sport with more continuous play and a role for the fast agile small forwards as well as the big ruckmen.

To give you an idea of the love of sports, we can watch on free tv, cricket (3 different forms), Aussie Rules, Rugby Union, Rugby league, road cycling, mountain biking, iron man surf competitions (usually swimming, surf ski, surf paddle board), women's basketball, womens netball, sometimes US football & baseball, swimming, surfing, and probably a few more.  They play baseball in my little suburb.  Nearly every little town has a swimming pool.

Oh yeah, for the Olympics there is a good chance they will show some actual sports, not just medal ceremonies and human interest stories.

I don't want to rain on your raining on our Parade, but that was almost 40 years ago.  There was a whole different dynamic to the game back then (They wore an onion on their belt for god sake). I'd say the changes to the game intended to make them higher scoring/more exciting in recent years makes the Seattle effort even more impressive.

All morning yesterday all I heard was about the Broncos and the Manning legacy, and even during the game it seemed to be pretty lopsided in discussing the greatness of the Broncos vs. the luck of Seattle. At the end of the day I think they were pretty well vindicated, and it looks like the West coast is where the toughest teams came from this year.  I'm looking forward to the Seattle/ San Fran and Seattle/New Orleans games next year!

Yep, the 9ers were no doubt the second best team in the league this year certainly at years end anyway.  IMO at years end the NFC had the top 4 teams; 1. Hawks 2. 9ers 3. Saints and 4. Panthers.  I think Denver was probably about the 5th best team in the league for most of the year and this showed itself in the Super Bowl.

It was a horrible game to watch (unless you were a Seattle fan).  Yes, the Seahawk defense is a stellar unit, and played like one.  However, the Broncos played poorly in all phases of the game, and some of that was not due to the play of the Seahawks.  The snap past Manning on the first play from scrimmage, resulting in a Seattle safety, was Exhibit A.  The poor tackling of the Broncos throughout the game was Exhibit B.   And then add that special teams breakdown on the Percy Harvin touchdown return to open the second half.  The middle of the field opened liked Moses had parted it.  That kind of gap should never happen. Denver special teams have been bad all year.

They got to Manning. I did not think Seattle could bring that kind of pressure from the edge (Avril and Clemons). Should have known that if Seahawks could apply pressure on Kaepernick, against a very good San Fran O-line, they would be able to do it against Denver.  Manning was doing the happy feet shuffle, which never is a good sign.  He still completed a high percentage of his passes, but most of those were short slants or wide receiver screens.  The 2 interceptions were bad.  The first one was just a bad throw. The second one, he got hit, but I am not sure why he was trying to throw it over that lineman.

The Broncos looked out of synch the entire game. A lot of credit to Seattle for that. On top of that, though, Denver just looked awful.  At points, it reminded me of the Bears annihilation of the Patriots in the 1980s.  That was the worst because some of the Patriots actually appeared frightened during that game.

I feel a bit sorry for Manning.  The Seahawks were the better team, by far.

Wow, all the talk about Manning.{#Eek} Football is a team sport and the best team usually wins, certainly did yesterday.  Does anyone think that if Manning was the QB of the Seahawks that they would have lost?{#Rolleyes} Does this mean that Terry Bradshaw or even Troy Aikman is better than Dan Marino and Manning?  Does this mean that Tom Brady was great from 2001-2004 and has sucked for the past 10 years?
