Back in 1998 when the Cubs came out of nowhere to grab the wildcard spot I was camping in Yellowstone.  I didn't even know they had gotten in until I happened to hear a news report in the car that said they won the 163rd regular season game to do it.  Perhaps you remember that one.   I wound up missing the whole series.  When I planned the trip and even when I left it looked like a lost cause.  I was little upset about missing it, but given my location not that much.  If it had been during the driving across Kansas part of the trip that might have been another story.  We did wind up getting swept so it probably was for the best.

Aw, bummer!
fwiw, Housecat too. Big tumor in his abdomen.  My vet put him on prednisolone.  Eight months of being in "hospice" and he's gaining weight again and is playful.
So it can happen.  I hope your cat has many more good days.
Hang in there!

Aww, honey, I'm so sorry. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's cancer, though. This sounds so much like thyroid or diabetes, both of which are manageable without diminishing their quality of life. Sometimes, they just need some Rx food. I wish so much that I could help with the funds but we just had to pay 8k to keep from going to court (don't ask) and are in the process of having to come up with even more for some medical stuff. If not for that, I'd give you whatever you needed in a heartbeat.

It might be kidneys too. That's pretty manageable with fluids.  Neither will be easy and time comes for all of us, so remember that quality of life thing and know that sometimes doing nothing is the right thing.  Just comfort them and enjoy the time you get.  Sorry you have to go through it.

I wish everyone could go to our vet. He doesn't gouge people just because they love their pets. But anyway: do what you can, but that doesn't mean "everything." Your cat doesn't want to be in pain, that's the main thing. Don't guilt yourself into these outrageous tests and procedures that won't make things better. And the guilt will be strong. I am so sorry.

Now, here's hoping you're wrong. Or that you're right but it's similar to our Mack's illness: they can see it on the xray, but he's been with us for a long time after the first x-ray. Still sleeps on Justine's head.

thanks. i am of the camp that no, i won't go through outrageous procedures just to prolong a poor outcome anyway. it's about quality of life. that's all i'm concerned of, and lack of suffering/pain.

yes, i'm getting him an appointment. we'll see what happens. i don't want to be right.
