Right, the general consensus is he's trying to avoid making them heroic. He could do that without making crappy photos though. There's nothing wrong with taking a nice picture of people, it doesn't automatically make them into living gods. He got some good candids, but with (deliberately?) lousy framing/focus/lens choice making the best ones seem like instamatic snaps.

This one would be pretty awesome for a facebook post.
