Chickens, people, not a whole lotta difference when it comes to determining the distinction between an egg and a being.

But we don't care what we do to animals.

I personally believe that viable life begins at 12 weeks.

Okay, you're right. But still, that immigrant law is causing real problems there. Who could possibly have guessed migrant farm workers would flee the state, leaving crops rotting in the fields?

But yes, visiting Beez is the only reason I can think of to visit AL.

And yes, it's a stupid amendment that everyone I know is voting down.

The people here are "in the now".  The government represents a jacked-up, time-regressive bunch of fuddy-duddies that are trying to keep it "old skool".  That's what it boils down to.

There are a few indications this law in MS will have exactly the opposite intended effect. That is, it is SO overreaching, SO extreme, that it can't possibly withstand judicial scrutiny. Although these days, with the SCOTUS apparently passing around a crack pipe in chambers, it's hard to say what will happen.

which makes it an interesting position if the vote is won, but also very troubling in a modern democracy.

You're probably asking the wrong guy - I think there's WAY too much power concentrated in DC already.
