Bradbury was a presence in my life from early on. He lectured occasionally at my father's alma mater, so some of his books were in our library. The second book I ever read was S Is for Space. I became a lifelong fan at the age of 8.
He was an odd man but a brilliant writer. He blurred the line between fantasy and SF long before that was hip and he wasn't afraid to take his stories into dark, murky places, requiring some patience and curiosity of his readers. If you haven't read him in a while this might be a good opportunity to get reacquainted. If you've never read him I know just how you'll feel, even if you aren't eight years old.

“Death doesn't exist. It never did, it never will. But we've drawn so many pictures of it, so many years, trying to pin it down, comprehend it, we've got to thinking of it as an entity, strangely alive and greedy. All it is, however, is a stopped watch, a loss, an end, a darkness. Nothing.” RIP Mr. B

Farewell to the man who scared the bejeezus out of me with The Illustrated Man.
I just recently re-watched the "Ray Bradbury Theater" series. I always liked his stuff. He had also written some of the Twilight Zone and even some Alfred Hitchcock episodes also,
