No, we're not in trouble. We just like to periodically remind everyone about how the whole listener-support thing works.

Since you're sending support via Paypal, it's be easier for you to double-check your payments by logging into your Paypal account & looking under 'Payments'.

thanks!

Thanks for clarifying Bill.
No Worries.  I was curious as to the emails and so appreciate your detailed explanation.
I love your station, especially the range and quality of the non commercialized music you stream.

Keep up the good work!!

If you've
received a series of unwanted emails from our mailing list server (lists.radioparadise.com), we apologize profusely.

Here's the deal:

We sent out a newsletter yesterday, using an email list software that worked just fine for us the last time we used it. Replies to the newsletter are configured to go to us, rather than to the entire list, and only we are allowed to originate posts.  Somehow — without the settings being changed in any way — the program sent all replies to the entire list, without moderation.

Needless to say, we were NOT happy about that.
And unfortunately this happened overnight (our time), so we weren't aware of the magnitude of the problem until this morning.

The good news is that any odd or suspicious emails you've received are replies by other listeners to our initial mailing. They're not spam or phishing attempts. The email inviting you to download a zip file (which might understandably raise a red flag) is just a band inviting us to listen to their music. They had no idea that they were sending their message to half of the RP universe. And the extra emails you received went through our list server, not directly to you — so, no, your address was not broadcast to everyone, and our database was not hacked.

We've shut down the program that did this, and will never use it again.

Again, our sincere apologies.

-Bill & Rebecca

Dear B. and R.,

Have been a Devotee for nearly as many years as you you have been free ranging it. Actually this newsletter is the first that i have had in AGES, actually..

Glad to know that the kerfluffle was just software , and not a disgruntled employee firebombing your peeps- how it seemed from here.

i will not cancel my subscription.  And oddly, I am sort of embarrassed to say, I had thought about (a few days ago) as it just seemed that everything was so impersonal these days~

thanks for the note! miss the old logo! And as the weather cools, and I pull out my winter gear I still love my old RP sweatshirt the best!

warmly,

Thanks, Bill. I did wonder about those.

I tell everyone I can about RP, and hope some of those are listening, and contributing!

RP is without a doubt, the best!
