Interesting.  Just clicked on the song comment page for Dream A Little Dream Of Me / MAPA and had it rated but it did not show rated on the main header.  Old site, don't know about how it looks on the Beta.

Lol, that's the thread I was alluding to (a whole 10 years ago!) I now find PT an excellent listen, and the overall mix better suited to my tastes nowadays. I also started a thread about the playlist cycle, but that was purely nerdy observation rather than criticism. If you search for "dxnerd86" on YouTube, you'll see that I'm a radio geek through and through. I'm also spreading the word Down Under via my very suave RP cap; thanks for making these available again.

Bill- thanks for your prompt reply. I'm using the latest version of the RP app- v. 6.0.12- on iOS 10.3.2. The bug is not unique to the 6.0.12 release, though. It's a minor quibble in the scheme of things as the app's functionality is otherwise excellent (much better than the increasingly buggy TuneIn). Thanks for investigating and may the eclectic mix continue.

I regret that I did make some snotty and immature comments in a past life on this board; now I'm on the 'right' side of 30, I hope I have reformed. I would hope that censorship is reserved for the most egregious cases of misconduct.

Which app are you using?  I'll investigate.

It's some sort of technical issue. You have to *really* color outside the lines to get censored here :-)

You're probably using Firefox, right?

At higher volume levels, Firefox applies a 'leveling' algorithm that compresses louder sounds. In some situations (watching YouTube videos from a variety of different sources, for example — or in any situation where audio levels may vary widely). However, I hate the way it affects RP's audio — particularly on our newer players which are optimized for the highest possible audio quality.

The effect is still there at reduced levels, but isn't as noticeable. On Chrome, Edge, IE (or other browsers that don't have this "feature"), I leave the volume at the normal level.

Yep - spot on.

On my media pc I use VLC for music (both RP and local files) mostly, but wanted to try the RP beta player today.

When I thought I could hear a difference between RP beta at max volume & VLC at 100%, I switched to the regular RP web player (again at max volume) and it sounded like that and VLC/100% were the same and both were louder than the RP beta.

Good to know about firefox - will stay away from it for music in general and RP in particular - VLC it is.

Thanks for quick clarification Bill.

Is the stream download issue being worked on? I use it on my kindles and Android phone then play it at work, but now either I tell it I want 12 hours and it downloads from 7 to occasionally 8.5 hours or so, or it error messages and won't download until setting it for a lower amount, that is variable (at times 9 hours will make it work, others 6.5 is the max) but now it only ever loads less than 9 hours. Now I try to remember to get a stream when I get home, and another when I get up in the morning, but that is to hedge my bets when it doesn't work at all (as was the case a few minutes ago across both Kindles).

Seems like the beta player with the slider set to full, is lower in level than the regular web player set to full / VLC set to 100%.

Seems like they should be the same?

Don't know if the playlist is 'inscrutable'.   But it does seem to lag by a few to many minutes.

It takes a minute for the name of the song to show up in my mp3 player (foobar2000 v1.3.1) using the rp_192m stream.
EDIT:  Just now the playlist caught up to Alt-J but the mp3 player is still showing Blackfield.

Not to worry; I am sure BillG is running around like a chicken with his head cut off.  At least he has a head; rumour has it that 'heads' are disappearing in Washington DC.

The playlist is inscrutable most days, at least for me. I hear a great segue; it says something completely different in the playlist. I think that after a while it sorts itself out, but the very recent history doesn't correspond to what I just heard. I haven't devoted enough brain power to figuring out what it's trying to do; I think there may be some "feature" I'm overlooking.

It bothers me most particularly when I hear a song I'd like to rate and it's not there. Harumph.
