Don't forget Jack Morris' 1-0, ten inning, 126 pitch, shutout win in game seven, 1991 series, Twins over A-Braves.  Perhaps the "best" World Series game seven ever. It had to be great to outshine the fantastic game six, same series.

Morris went on to break Twins fans' hearts by declaring for free agency four days later. He went to Toronto.   But hey, MN nice and all that.  Morris is now a good, and getting better, analyst on the Twins broadcast team.

There have been reports for a couple of days that it was a done deal.

On a lot of stuff.  That's why I put that link on it.  I think I've told the story about my kid brother getting on a riverboat when he was living in Cincinnati only to discover it was special Reds fans cruise.  Sparky was there answering questions and there was a guy there who Ted said you could tell from the way he asked was an AL fan with Stockholm syndrome who wanted to know as someone who had managed in both leagues what the old guy thought of the DH.  Ted said he went into a tirade about the most god damned stupidest rule ever created that even I might have thought was a bit excessive though I don't think that's actually possible.

How do we know anyone living in Stockholm really wants to be there?

I was a little surprised by all the Russell Martin talk. This was a career year for him (surprise! his contract's up) but he'd be a great backup catcher on most teams. Unless he's credited with some mystical abilities in "handling" pitchers, calling games etc.

I certainly don't begrudge the Giants their win.  In fact felling as I do about the DH I always feel compelled to root for the NL team even if it's the Cardinals (though I won't do it publicly).  And given your success in recent years I can certainly understand how a good deal of celebration is in order as well.  However I have my Google news page set to have a section the picks up just the stories about the Cubs so I can get to the important stuff first and I really didn't appreciate seeing this before I'd even finished my coffee.

Seems like a no-brainer now but what a roll of the dice. Thank god Bochy didn't do a Matt Williams and go with his closer just because it was the 9th inning.

I feel sorry for Timmy. Hope he finds a home and has a good life. I can't imagine any other team picking up his contract but I also don't know that he'll be with the team next year. Maybe.

I don't think I've said the word SHIT so many times in such a short amount of time as when they kicked that ball around the outfield. Luckily I was already on the floor because the fall would have really hurt.

I kept thinking the same thing, except I was thinking the Marlins / Indians series when Hargrove yanked Nagy and put in Mesa.  By the book ... meh ...    Bochy is a real manager.  That is what I like about Francona and gives me hope for Cleveland.

Anyway, go Giants !    Bumgarner  {#Notworthy}   Yep a HOFer fer sure !

Too bad someone had to lose.

Yeah, this was a well-played game, and 1 run is not a comfortable feeling. I just had this huge cloud of dread the whole game, one little (or big) error and it would have evaporated.

Note: the double play that Panik started and was called safe but overturned... that was the game right there and I will never disagree with any Royals fan who thinks instant replay lost them a World Series. I intend to go look at replays tomorrow but I never saw anything that made me think they'd change that call to out.
