A sunfish can lay up to 300 million eggs in it's lifetime. Many rockfish live to be over 100 years old and some have been known to live over 200.Manta rays have the largest brains of all fish, compared to body size.

God I'm gonna miss Vin.(All the above learned during the Dodgers-Rays game)

There's not a division where the Wild Card leader (second place team) has a better record than some other division's leader. The Wild Card is some peoples' solution to that situation where some second-place team would have been first if they were in another division

More of a necessity brought about by three divisions.  The idea is you play the bulk of your games within your division and after 162 we know who the best in each division is.  Going to the five teams in each division while on balance was a good thing also meant for the first time since there were divisions teams are playing less than half of their games within the division.  Even though expansion has probably overtaxed the talent pool already we probably do need a couple more.  Contraction ain't gonna happen.

Maybe I'm just not remembering very well but with the Cubs having the best record in baseball at .596, and the Rangers having the "worst" first place record otherwise, at .574, that seems really really tight. Usually the first place team in one division or another is over .600 by a healthy margin, and usually there's a team in first in another division that's struggling to stay above .500 and if they don't win, aren't even in the hunt for the wild card.

I'm not sure what "healthy margin" is but winning 100 games is only .617.   This is the first time all season no one is above .600, but for a good part of it there have been three teams above it and we're all still close and I wouldn't be surprised to see us all end the season on the plus side. We just all happen to be slumping a little at the same time right now and it's more of a scheduling oddity. I've not done the numbers, but I would guess the average is between 1.2 and 1.5 teams a season end up above .600.    It's very hard though to have above .600 teams though without some below .400 ones and both are a lot more common now as tanking and playing for draft picks is becoming much more fashionable these days.

They have him listed on the 40 man now.  They'll probably move him to the active roster as soon as the can give him a number

And they've already photoshopped a Cubs cap on him too.

Meamwhile Papelbon gave up 4 runs in the 9th yesterday,I'm skeered the Nats are going to take a run at Miller and literally offer the farm.
