It was an easy mistake to make.   You're just having so much fun beating up on the Brewers that you don't even notice those sneaky Cardinals creeping up from behind.   We'll get there eventually, but we can't eliminate the Cards while we're in Milwaukee now.   We'll have to go to St. Louis to do that.  It's more fun that way anyway.   All we need to do is win one of the two we have left with the Brewers and two of the four we have with the Cards to clinch in in St Louis in front of all thode Cardinal fans.

It would be better if you got on a hot streak and won all 6. Thanks.

St Louis won and they needed to lose too for it to get down to 4.   The Cards are now ahead of the Brewers, but don't worry we play them next.

The Rockies did their best to make the Wild Card a race. Thanks for beating the Brewers; it's too bad about the Cards now.

Another consequence of 30 not being divisible by 4.  With an odd number of teams in each league there has to be at least 1 interleague game in order for everybody to be playing.  They try to schedule it so that as many games as possible are within a division at the beginning and end of the year, but there is only so much they can do with an odd number of teams in each division.  Once again expanding to 32 teams is the answer.

Those are the some of the most sought-after seats, but I know what you mean about if you have little kids.  I wrote about this in here a few weeks ago, but years ago my friends and I were sitting very close to that area (in the old Yankee Stadium), when Don Baylor hit a screaming foul ball at us.  Everyone in the area ducked for cover - even some guys who were wearing mitts - but there were no kids there.  Fortunately, I didn't spill too much of my beer.  Anyone who's ever sat near first or third base for a game knows how fast that ball can be right up on you, especially with certain batters at the plate.

It's like sitting on a turn at a NASCAR race. People choose those seats for a lot of reasons having nothing to do with baseball. Bragging rights, etc. but also the danger. I admit to thinking I could sit down there and be the guy who doesn't flinch but A) that's a lie and 2) I won't pay those prices. A little further down the line, where some teams have their bullpen mounds, etc. is nice. You still have to pay attention but the odds of taking the sharp end of a broken bat in the neck are quite low, and pregame, the pitchers and outfielders are open to some schmoozing. I don't really like being down low behind the plate/backstop netting because 1) Netting and B) my depth perception isn't great so I can't tell if a fly ball is out or not. I like the mezzanine level below the announcers but up high enough that you're looking down on the field a little. That's also a common TV angle, so for the kids, it's relatable.

Which reminds me it's been about a decade since I've been to an MLB game. We were going to fix that this summer, August 19 before the eclipse, in Denver against the Brewers, who, as it turns out, are in a fight to the finish with the Rox right now, as well as enjoy sentences with a lot of commas, but it didn't work out. It was also Nolan Arenado bobblehead day.

Players were visibly upset. Maybe I'm being too judgemental but you bring a young kid to the ballpark, you sit closer to the plate than them and bring a glove and watch every frigging pitch.

But really, time to put up the nets. IIRC, the NHL did that after a little girl died from being hit by a puck. There are nets now on both ends of the rinks.
