After the dragon's post I thought even though my card's already maxed out I'd check out what was still left just to see if demand really has returned to pre Bartman levels.  It does seem that most of the wayward fans have returned.  There was one bright spot though.  I've never taken the time to count them and keep actual stats, but it seems they're starting to have a few more day games again.  In particular in recent years there have been Cardinal series with no day games and only two or three day games with the Cards scheduled for the whole season when tickets go on sale.  I was looking at all the Cardinal games because they and the White Sox are the ones that start selling out right after Opening Day.  This year there six day games, two night, and one TBD.  Of the six day games two were completely sold out and only one of the ones in September still has bleachers left. The night and TBD games all still have bleachers.  It probably doesn't mean anything to any of the rest of you, but I was encouraged by it.

Stubhub can be fantastic for last-minute tickets. Like day-of-game, the people with season tix realize they're not gonna make it. I assume a lot of season ticket holders try to sell off enough days to finance the games they do attend.

Back in olden times before we sucked you into all of this seats were relatively cheap and in years we were likely to be contending games started selling out in the first few hours and bleachers were entirely gone for the whole season by the end of the weekend.  It was what made me start to pay close attention to when they first go on sale.  I was fearing it would return to that or worse now and that seems to be the case.  I was lucky to get in fairly early this year and it may have been a glitch in their system that allowed me to get multiple games once I got in.  For future reference if there is that one date that you really really want to get to then the cut to the front of the line for a 15% markup presale sale will always have bleachers or better seats in the main stands than they will once the hoards are let in.  StubHub is always an option too though I've never used it so I don't know if their markup is more or less.

I was told last year though I haven't checked it out personally yet that they now allow bleacher bums to wander over into the main stands and have a guy to rescan your ticket to get back in.  The  normal people in the main stands aren't allowed in the bleachers though.  It probably has something to do with there being more places to spend money over there and Mr. Ricketts wanting to be sure we all had access to them.  I remembered us sneaking over in the 13th at the Yankee's game, but I thought this would be the first time you would have an actual assigned seat and be able to show up ten minutes before game time if you wanted.  I'd recommend coming early anyway though.  Hanging out in Murphy's or something till then is an option though.

Last time we were there the game went into extra innings as I recall. The bandwagon fans thinned out and we to the opportunity to move over to some vacated seats on the left foul line.

That sucks. They have phone operators that I think can see exactly where the seats are and get you as close to a ramp as possible.  Other parks have that on their web sites, but for some reason the Cubs haven't got around to it yet.  I don't know how much slower it would be or how big the demand for the new world champs is going to be so it might make a big difference in what you can get.  I would think the bleachers might be the easiest outside of the wheelchair accessable.  There is an elevator there and if you get there early enough you can probably get seats right at that level since the ones close to the field are going to be taken first.  That being the case though I think I'll go back to my original priorities and may even intentionally join you somewhere over there.  As I said the dark side gets mighty tempting in July.  On the other hand it is the Cardinals and I have to be in the bleachers to get the cool Cubs sunglasses.  I'm in the virtual waiting room now.

This is going to be your first time out of the bleachers and Paula's first Cardinals game isn't it?

That being the case I will switch my first and second priorities and go for that one first.  I was only going for the June one first because demand might be so high again that bleacher seats and possibly the whole game will be sold out by the time I get a chance for my second game.  Even though I always want to be in the bleachers if possible in July and August it does get very tempting to go over to the dark side as I'm sure you're now aware after that extra inning affair against the Yankees a couple years ago.

In the one article he or someone mentions the high number of strikeouts... and proposes raising the strike zone. Maybe if they're raising it to the knees and to the letters it's not so bad. It sucks when a guy walks on a pitch that's just above the belt... or strikes out on one mid-shin. Maybe that's what they're talking about.
