So,how does a person get out of a steel container, knowing that all of Germanies death machine is bearing down on you,and you just say, this is who my people are.I will fight for my country.I will do this.

The horrible, evil group of terrible people that now infest our country will not stop the cause of good.

They are and always will be,the horrible scum of the earth.

I used to take other people being hateful so PERSONALLY that I would feel it deeply and physically (thus my leaving RP's social scene for the most part). Now, I see another gentle friend going through the same thing in her internet world.  I hope she eventually comes to the same conclusions that I have.  The part that makes me go hmmmm is that I had to go through this cancer dance to realize IT WAS NEVER ME!!!

I'm with you, but I'm going to vote for a gravity air style furnace with lots of asbestos laden ductwork. I rented a house in Denver from about that vintage and that was the setup. Definitely no fireplace.

It looks like cinder block, just straight up. I don't think there's any indication of it from inside the room. Forced air heating in the floor.

It also looks like some sort of wire coming away from that flashing. Maybe a TV aerial is anchored there and that's why they came along and did that?

Yeah, that seems likely the more I look at it.  It's not even a brick chimney, but they (sloppily) flashed it on at least one side of the peak.

That's what I mean. There may not be a fireplace and or mantle at all. Just a floor level hearth with a wood stove or oil circulator

Yes, it might; it just looks "unconventional".  Usually there seems to be so much insulation between the chimney and the interior walls (wider than the chimney) that you'd assume that above the mantel had to be pretty solid - maybe not.  There's probably some builder/engineer type around here who would know the specifics.  Scott may be right that there isn't a fireplace at all.  The place I found that photo had no information at all.

Yeah, I think you're right.  There's a shadow that makes it look like it wraps around, but it's not really that wide.  Maybe it is just covering a recessed entryway - probably with a short staircase.

The whole layout looks odd; why would you want to put windows above a fireplace mantel anyhow?

And I don't think there's a doorway under that awning. I think the window's at the kitchen sink or bathroom etc that a curtain on the inside might not be a good idea.

And why would you have a porch awning without a door and porch?

Edit: I see what's going on. It's an illusion. The awning doesn't wrap the chimney. You can see the top of the window to the left of the chimney. The awning is over a door and porch behind our subject...
