Yeah, I think it was the summer of 1980. The last rain was in early June and we got nothing from then until the next spring. I think they took 25 feet off of lake Altus Lugert for irragation. Those cotton fields suck up some water.

When I worked at KWHW in Altus we got knocked off the air by a tornado once and I had to go to the transmitter which was a few blocks away to try and get us back on the air. While I was trying to get the door open at the site a hail stone about the size of a ping pong ball beaned me in the back of the head. Ouch. I saw stars for a second.
