If you're on this side you should hit DD. They are in Montlake Terrace. It's a real 'old fashioned' butcher shop - they will get you what you want and cut it how you like it.  I was surprised a bit today when the pre-cut filet was $11.48/lb, it's usually less. They also do a full compliment of sausage and ground meats too. I mix their bacon burger ground 50/50 with their lean ground for nearly perfect burgers. They also have a meatloaf grind with a bit of pork and veal in it that is cheap and delicious. And then there are the sauces - something like 3000 varieties of bottled stuff, there's got to be one in there you'll like.

Yes! I remember DD Meats... venison sausages, buffalo steaks and elk jerky. I was in 7th heaven.

I bought and trimmed up a whole 7-lb. beef tenderloin last weekend ($116). We had grilled filet mignon with 2/3 of the Buckeye ladies. Six more steaks of various size in the freezer for another time, plus the ground-up trimmings for burgers. I think I did all right. Getting real good at trimming....

Today's accomplishments: 2 large pans of dressing, mushrooms and onions sautéed for the green bean casserole, rum pecan pie, and dinner which is this. Yum. And I'm about to start on the sweet potatoes.

well DD meats was 7-8 people deep all the way across the counter. So I made the most of it and have enough red meat for a football team. I'll be wrapping the steaks with bacon shortly - this is the only kind of christmas wrapping I support.
