I really miss decorating the house and having tons of kids com through. Our old neighborhood was one where they drove in vans full of kids and dumped them at the end of the block. All the houses had porches and we had cool old trees and all the neighbors were really in to it, so it was a fantastic fun time.  Now we are a fair distance up a busy road and we are down the hill on a steep driveway. I don't think we've had a single legitimate kid come through at all.

So now we do adult parties. Last night's was almost 100 people. everyone in costume and we helped decorate so I got to go through all the halloween boxes. It was a good time.  I still miss the kiddos though, someday we'll have a house in a good Halloween neighborhood again.

I stopped giving out candy here when Churches started busing kids in from elsewhere are dropping them off right in front of my house after 9pm when I was already out of candy and no-one else had been by in over an hour.
This year no Church buses at least.

I think that may be part of it out here to.  Houses are just too far apart.  You'd burn up almost as many calories collecting your loot as you'd get from eating it.  A lot of them probably go into town to go with their friends.  I remember one year when I was a little kid my brother and I went with a friend of ours who lived in the university's married housing.  A big eight story apartment building entirely filled with young couples with kids.  We  just started at the top and worked our way down and in an hour or so came back with grocery bags full of candy.  It was great.

My neighborhood is aging, we we have few kids.  Most go to parties or to football games, especially since it fell on a Friday.

I'm not sure if you tell form tell from the picture but about a third of it mysteriously vanished even before the little urchins stood me up again.  I suspect poltergeist.

Well crap. No little trick-or-treaters to admire and pass out goodies to.

Our cul-de-sac is too undeveloped (half the condos—which were completed this summer—are dark and empty) and/or out of the way.
