Several years ago I planted a yellow rose bush for my Mother on Mother's Day. Yesterday I clipped 3 of the fragrant blooms and journeyed down to her grave site and placed them at her headstone in a black glass vase. Since it was a perfect day for it; breezy and warm with dreamy clouds floating by, I flew a kite from right there at her grave side. I think I could hear her calling me in for supper...just like a long ago memory...

Had a really nice day. My mom and her husband came to Orlando, as well as Jeff's parents, brother, grandma, uncle, aunt, aunt's sister, her hubby and their two kids for lunch at High Tide Harry's (my favorite). Great service and everyone enjoyed their food. Jeff's grandma got corsages for all the ladies, which was really cute. I said to Jeff while we were eating, "You never buy me corsages!" and he said, "I don't even know what that is. How am I supposed to get you something when I don't even know what it is?" (Obviously he never went to prom)
This is my mom and me playing with sea lions when we went on our last cruise a couple years ago.
Stu posted this back in 2008 in the Poetry forum. I think about it every year around this time; this year I read it to the scouts in my son's troop, and actually held their attention for 5 minutes.
I LOVE this! I've gotta steal it. Christina Crawford is doing a show and book signing in NYC this Sunday. I would love to do that for Mother's Day but, I have t end to my own Mommie Dearest...

I always love getting this photo of my mom out on Mother's Day....she was so very lovely. I'm pretty sure it was her engagement photo taken for her small-town newspaper—-the "calm" before the storm of mothering nine kids!
