I don't think it bothered him too much but Richard Burton and Lawrence Olivier apparently were asked before Mason was.  They are said to have refused the part for fear it could tarnish their careers.

I have started going without sitting down or touching the toilet; it is amazing how much better the plumbing is in that position without going into gory details.  Plus you have the added benefit of no contact with the toilet which is of course hygenically much cleaner.   And last but not least: {#Lol}
