Years ago I would hear a lot of older folks pronounce it "Myamuh".  It was probably a leftover pronunciation from radio announcers like Walter Winchell and Paul Harvey - I think it was called  "Mid-Atlantic" accent.   I recently watched a DVD of The Beatles on Ed Sullivan and their second appearance was from Miami.  Sullivan repeatedly pronounced it "Myamuh".
