Nice one, Bill.

Just read the liner notes this morning (of the new U2 CD) about why Joey Ramone was so significant to them in the earliest days....very cool.

SRV to Beethoven.

Where else does that happen?

It's like Bill is saying "Look what I can do!"

He's essentially exploding the envelope.

In Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" - in the right headphone, toward the end of the song, there is this other guitar part - just this running arpeggio while the lead guitar is fading out the solo -

into

Pink Floyd's "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" which has the SAME arpeggio at the beginning on a keyboard—almost sounds like it's one song with two different movements.

Would've never noticed this if I hadn't been wearing headphones.

Bill, for a long while, had some version of what I called his "Apocalypse Set"
The set varied a bit over time, but included
Gimmee Shelter— Stones, of course
Optimistic—Radiohead
Bullet the Blue Sky—U2

and a fourth offering, which varied frequently.  It certainly created a mood! Maybe I have missed them, but it seems a long time so maybe that "segue"  has gone into "redesign".
