Holy crap that was amazing. Alex Jones just proves that some people will believe any old sh** as long as it's on TV and the person spewing it is angry.

I wish the Eagles had gone more in this vein, musically.

Othman Wahabi - CATFISH BLUES (Black Snake Moan)

Great movie. This should have been the trailer.

It was a cool version; I told her I liked it and she just kinda grinned and said a lot of people don't know how to respond to it.  The drummer is very accomplished; he did a lot of "Clem Burke-style" fills throughout.  Judging that they're out of Nashville, I'd guess he's probably also a studio/session guy out there.  They're very versatile musicians - an interesting mix of musical styles.

I went to see them Saturday night; they were very good - great show.  They were very tight (as in "well-rehearsed"), especially compared to the opening band, who were good but somewhat sloppy.  They did two curious covers: Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" and Blondie's "Heart of Glass".  The rhythm section is so good that they carried off the latter very well, allowing her space for some neat guitar stuff.  The venue is a small bar and they were hanging out selling merch - they were very friendly folks.  I talked with the bass player for a while about his unusual guitar (late 1960s Baldwin bass) and his amp set up - he had great sound. I talked to her for a while about how much I enjoyed the show and her great sound and restraint on the guitar - she was very appreciative and humble.  She seemed genuinely flattered when I told her that I seldom went out for 'late-night' music shows anymore and that I came specifically to see them.  They wanted to know how I had heard of them and I mentioned how you posted that video here; they were familiar with RP but were not aware of the "forum".

Yeah, at first I thought it was a modified Jazzmaster and I could only read "Crest" on the headstock; it sounds good.  Jeez, those are expensive guitars. I hardly go out to see music anymore; but maybe I'll try for that show; I'll have to pace myself.

Nice.  I'm trying to figure out what kind of guitar that is.  Good sound at any rate.  I hadn't heard of them before but I saw their name on a flyer in town; they're playing nearby on Saturday - maybe I'll go over there.
