This doesn't surprise me because they are totally the kind of company that would pay a man more than a woman. According to law, this is against the law. How do I approach the owner and successfully get him to increase my salary, without revealing what I know? Always something with this place You can ask for a raise. Point out how long you've been there, what you've accomplished, how dedicated you are. And then hope for the best. |

This brings up another point. These aren't actually songs that I listen to when I'm reading. I mean, they might be. But mostly it is filler in between book reviews. So I use songs I find on soundcloud because it only takes a button to post 'em and I am lazy. I do try to pick music that would make a good soundtrack for a book, sometimes with a particular book in mind, but this more a matter of trying to convince any readers (like I said, a very small handful of people) that the post is on purpose and not just a lazy person's filler post. In my defense, I do try to post music I like. |

Hey NEWBIE - Who do you think STARTED the mixtape culture club? It was a gorgeous sunny day, NAF and I were roadtripping down to Austin, and decided that what RP needed was a mixtape exchange program. The convertible is long gone and NAF has moved on to real life. But our little idea keeps chugging along. |

That is why you need specific music. Reading music. It needs to be something that enhances the experience. Think of it more as the score to a movie and less like watching TV while reading a book. The two experiences should complement each other. EDITTED TO ADD: I take this waaaay too seriously. But I do like the "complete" experience. The right mug of tea. The right cozy quilt. The right music. Light a candle or not? If so, which one? It makes reading a lifestyle and not just a hobby.
I always listened to classical music while studying Shakespeare. And others, of course, but it did help me get "A"s in my English courses. |
