My Son, an Iraq War Veteran, has started a petition to have congress approve a memorial to the troops who died in that war. He writes, "Most combat veteran's don't want or need anymore acknowledgement of their time at war other than a simple 'welcome home' and a handshake. There are many, however, who never received even that. Those soldiers gave their life fighting alongside the rest of us and I believe it is our responsibility to ensure that their names and their sacrifice will not be forgotten. We, combat veterans, family and friends of those who died will always remember their faces. It is time for Congress to write the closing chapter on this conflict and prove to us that our Government is willing to stand beside us in honoring and remembering our fallen friends and loved ones by funding a public memorial site." And I agree.
