There was no sign of a sports car.  

There was pretty much the entire rest of the list.  You know: the list of dumbshit stuff that fifty-year-old guys are stereotypically, idiotically, predictably, embarrassingly prone to do.  

There was that.

There were a couple of epiphanies, flashes of . . . lower levels of stupidity, if one dare not call 'em wisdom.

There is an amazing, loving woman willing to try again.

We are not out of the woods.  But—and I am grateful beyond words for this—we are once again walking side by side.
