Holy carolly!

This is a crazy week, and a crazy time.

Thanks for all the patience, those of you who I miss, and those of you who miss me.

I intend to be back on at some time.

Apologies for delayed responses, or complete lacks of same.

Those of you who will not be here, I'll be thinking of you.

Phone rings. The special private line. I answer.

Recorded message: "This is (a-credit-card-company). Please call 800number blahblahblah."

Is it a marketing call? Is it important? I don't know.

I call it.

Recorded voice: "Please enter your account number." I don't know it.

I press something like "0" or "#". "Please enter your account number." I press "0" or whatever again. Repeat a couple times more.

"Transferring to a real person."

"Hello, I'm a real person. What's your account number?"

"I don't know the account number."

"What's your social security number?"

"I don't know what the number is. I'm calling back because a recorded message told me to call."

"We can't tell you anything until you verify who you are."

Arrrrrrggggghhhh! ...

Clique
Posted: Feb 28, 2008 - 7:11pm
People who don't really want to talk to those people who want to talk, and people who don't really want to PM to those people who PM them, come up with the term "clique" to describe those people that they really don't want to talk with in the first place, because those people are too outgoing, too talkative, too gabby, too extroverted, too something.

I respond to people in forum topics, I PM people from time to time, and they still use the term "clique" and don't join in or respond.

It's a very convenient term for people who don't really want to join in, for whatever reasons.

Just saying.

You find what you bring...

This place is wonderful.

And indescribable.

Great, open, kind, generous people.

Compassion and friendship.

People that open up to you if you open up to them.

If you're seeing something else, I don't know what else to tell you.

Requotes of the great posts.

I like to post responses to people in journals using italics.

Trying to figure out the "Quote" button is stupid.

I don't know why, but it's just stupid.

There are only three of us who do that, so you might think we're all the same person.

We're not.

We studied together.

Your bark may be worse than your bite, but you're still being an ass.

You found a "cool new internet site" and decided to have fun being a stick in folks' sides by rebutting anything anybody says, and throwing in insults as you go.

No more. I'm done.

Good luck here. You're going to need it.

You have no idea how rapidly you're killing off anybody's desire to respond to you. You'll be bored enough soon.

Take your shtick and have fun with yourself.

A linguistic journey, and a quote from a review of a book
Posted: Mar 10, 2007 - 11:40pm
"The Complete Course in Authentic Celtic Druidism" it says in large lettering on the back... what a lie. The mere fact that Monroe felt compelled to write yet another book (The Lost Books of Merlyn: Druid Magic From the Age of Arthur) should be enough of a tip that it indeed isn't complete. However there is still more to say about this book.

One should know that we know virtually nothing about Celtic druidism, and that claiming that anything practiced by modern day people is authentic is a lie in itself, but Monroe takes the lie to higher levels in not only quoting texts which were written by Romantic druids, trying to fake an ancient druidic document, but also by stealing one of his 'ancient druidic charms' from the movie Excalibur by John Boorman --phonetically transcribed even, or a very poor excuse for Gaelic.

"To activate the order, recite 3 times the Druidic CHARM OF MAKING as restated below from chapter13, Echoes of the Ancient

Sorry.

I just wish all my favorite shopping centers and restaurants hadn't stopped selling spinach.

I hate iceberg lettuce.

You can eat grass for more nutrition and taste.

And RPeeps are the greatest.

My father is dead.

4:40PM Central time.

A lot of weeping and wailing and keening going on here.

I think I'm on my way to Texas shortly.

After a good nap. Maybe longer.

Thanks, you all, for being here.

Not sure what to say, part II
Posted: Mar 20, 2006 - 11:25am
Well. My father has advanced prostate cancer, as well as a five centimeter tumor in his lung. They had established that the lung tumor was not connected to the prostate problem, but as of Friday there is some question about what's going on in his liver being involved with the lung tumor.

The lung tumor is around an artery, so it's not operable. It has pressed up against the nerves to his vocal cords, so he has lost the use of half of them, and will not regain his full voice.

On top of that, he got out of the car Friday night and tripped. Broken hip, so he's in the hospital until they decide whether his heart and lungs are up for the necessary operation on his hip.

My full-time job has been "downsized" out of existence as of this past Wednesday.

So: I'm finishing up some loose ends at my "part-time full-time job" for the next couple of days, and then taking what remains of my vacation days, and heading for Austin, Texas.

Not sure what to say

Okay, so my brother called me last night to tell me that my dad was diagnosed with cancer yesterday, has a follow-up visit today, and one later this week.

That's all that I know at this point.
