RP on mobile devices:
The Radio Paradise Mobile Website is optimized to provide the best listening and browsing experience for smartphones and other web-enabled mobile devices.
On most major smartphones, you can browse our website while listening to the music.
The website automatically detects what phone you are using and provides a tailored recommendation for the best ways to listen on that phone, including recommendations about available apps.
Our mobile website allows you to do virtually everything you can do on our regular website: get song info, purchase music, rate and comment on songs, search for music and artists, and interact with your fellow RP listeners on the forums.
Android:
We have a free app and accompanying desktop widget available in the Android Market. We're currently working on an update (available sometime in March) that will allow you to access the "PSD" function on your smartphone or Android tablet (including the Kindle Fire). Stay tuned...
Our website also works great on almost all Android phones and tablets. Just go to radioparadise.com on your phone browser. In almost all cases, our mobile website allows you to start the audio and then continue browsing our website.
You can also access RP via many of the radio apps like TuneIn (our favorite), WunderRadio, rad.io, etc. Search for us within the app, or look for us in the "Alternative" or "Rock" categories.
iPhone/iPod Touch:
Our iPhone app allows you to stream the music at your choice of three different bandwidth rates, and shows you what song is currently playing. When you touch the album cover, you are taken to the mobile-optimized web page for the current song. Unfortunately, our iPhone app does not currently support the "PSD" feature.
You can also listen via our website in the Safari browser. However, our iPhone app incorporates some sophisticated techniques that make it much less prone to dropouts when you're on the go or in your vehicle.
It also incorporates a sleep timer, Tunemarking, and other functions. Like all of our apps, it's free.
Apple iPad:
We have a new Radio Paradise HD Slideshow app, courtesy of RP listener Giacomo Tufano (thanks!). The latest (9/18/12) version of the app includes our PSD function.
You can also experience RP on your iPad via our website in the Safari browser — though unfortunately PSD won't work in Safari.
Or you can use our iPhone app, which doesn't look that great but may be the best choice if you're using your iPad to listen in your vehicle, due to its advanced audio buffering features.
Windows Phone 7:
We have a free app for Windows Phone 7 that allows you to listen and access our mobile web content, including our playlist, song ratings and comments, etc. You can download it from the Windows Phone Market. Just do a search for "Radio Paradise".
Our website also works fine in the phone browser — with the exception of audio streaming. Curiously, even our Windows Media web links (which worked fine in earlier versions of Windows Mobile) don't work in Windows Phone 7.
Currently the only way to listen on Windows Phone 7 is via our app, or one of the several third-party audio players that are available.
Blackberry / Palm OS / Other Phones
Most smartphones provide the capability to stream the music while using the mobile website. A frequent problem, however, is that the audio player will take over the entire screen and that you can't use the phone for anything else while listening, unless you download a third-party audio player of some kind. Unfortunately that behavior is out of our control.
If you have downloaded BerryTunes or a similar background-listening app to your BlackBerry, the music will play while you continue to use your phone to browse the website or do other tasks. The same is true for Palm Treo and Centro, using the PocketTunes player.
Thanks a bunch to our longtime listeners and members at Stormy Productions (iPhone app), When I'm Mobile (mobile website), and Earthflare (Android app/widget), who have stepped up to provide the necessary components for the Radio Paradise mobile user experience.
