I can't shake the feeling that this is what today's accountants and dentists listened to in their hippy youth while the cool kids were rocking out to Led Zeppelin.

You must be very young and very unfamiliar with 70's rock. The Who was in many ways considered just as cool as Zep, Beatles, whatever. Some of us never separated them much until later. While Zep and the Beatles today are probably remembered as superior bands, it sure isn't by much.
Astor Piazzolla - Zita
(Apr 08, 2013 - 11:22)
This one is annoying!

Pat Metheny - New Chautauqua
(Jan 31, 2013 - 10:46)
Always speaks to me....{#Bananajam}

Dougie MacLean - Ready For The Storm

Neil Young - Like A Hurricane

{#Umbrella}

John Lennon - Jealous Guy
(Oct 08, 2012 - 10:46)
Don't get me wrong, Paul and George were great, but this song is further proof that John was a superior song writer....

Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science
(Jun 19, 2012 - 07:33)
Thompson Twins, please BiIl??

The Call - I Still Believe
(Jun 14, 2012 - 07:24)
Really, Bill? Really...?? Eye of the Tiger next?

Love Spoon, but only have 1 album "Transference" I believe it's called.  Any Spoon fans recommend other albums that stand out?!

Highly recommend: Kill The Moonlight, Gimme Fiction, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Have them all and these are my fave.

The Black Keys - Gold On the Ceiling
(Apr 26, 2012 - 16:31)
This is about as crunchy as you can get.

The Shins - It's Only Life
(Apr 23, 2012 - 18:59)
Just like every other Shins song I like.... Time release, baby... Love it now, thought it was weak the first few listens.

Sparklehorse - Sad & Beautiful World
(Apr 06, 2012 - 20:45)
Velvet Underground again......

Peter Malick Group - Strange Transmissions (w/ Norah Jones)
(Mar 26, 2012 - 11:50)
Sounds like an old Roxy Music song.

The Shins - Bait And Switch
(Mar 21, 2012 - 12:00)
Love this album, but why does it bother me that he is such a control freak he had to play every instrument??

The Beatles - You Never Give Me/The End
(Mar 17, 2012 - 12:01)
Where would one song be without the other?? Love that Bill plays 'em all... Perfect!

Yes - Starship Trooper
(Mar 10, 2012 - 12:37)

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand The Weather

Is there better guitar music ANYWHERE??? I think not....

Wilco - Born Alone

I recently saw Wilco on Austin City Limits. I don't think I have ever seen a band that tight. 5+ guys playing with one musical mind. The crazy thing is that it is controlled chaos - the best of spontaneity combined with studio-like precision. Truly amazing.

And WAY more awesome when you actually see them live in person. I saw them on ACL and also saw them live twice. ACL was good, but so much does not convey on TV compared to a live show. Go get some tickets!

Velvet Underground - I'm Waiting For The Man

Cheap Trick remade this song and I must say, it blows the original out of the water!

Now THAT'S funny......

James McMurtry - Choctaw Bingo
(Feb 21, 2012 - 13:25)
Can't say I dislike this stuff, but why not just go buy a Lou Reed CD and be done with it?

Led Zeppelin - Bron-y-aur Stomp
(Feb 19, 2012 - 20:18)
My, my la dew la.... come on now it ain't too far

Wilco - Monday
(Feb 19, 2012 - 18:10)
Yet another kick-ass song from that really boring group...

The Cure - Let's Go To Bed
(Feb 17, 2012 - 22:17)
I don't care if you don't. I won't feel it if you don't.

Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut
(Feb 17, 2012 - 13:30)
I was fortunate to see the Cats way back (before they hit the big time) in a very small venue. They were HANDS DOWN one of the best acts I have ever seen to this day. My ears rang for a week.... Setzer was the shit. What an entertainer that guy is.

King Crimson - Elephant Talk
(Feb 15, 2012 - 15:30)
5.8??? Really?? I saw KC do this about 10 years ago. Belew was right in front of me with my chest pressed against the stage. He was truly the shit on this song. Too bad you people don't get it. This is awesome guitar stuff here.....

Wilco - Outtasite (Outta Mind)
(Feb 10, 2012 - 11:43)
Isn't this band supposed to be a boring snore-fest?

Etta James - Groove Me
(Feb 03, 2012 - 13:35)
That is some kick-ass guitar coming through too.

U2 - New Year's Day

I saw a documentary on Netflix a while ago called "It Might Get Loud" or something like that. It was about The Edge, Jimmy Page, and Jack White (I think). It was better than a I thought it would be. I liked getting the insight into how the Edge works. So different from the other two guys.
Anyone who likes music should check it out.

Hate saying it, but Edge he was so different and so L-A-M-E compared to the others. Jack White blew everyone completely away with the roughly-made guitar and solos on those crappy, plastic guitars. The guy it way beyond Edge... Sorry, but just sayin'.

U2 - New Year's Day
(Feb 02, 2012 - 13:47)
Quite possibly one of the best beginnings of a song ever. Still gets me excited sooo many years later....

Porcupine Tree - Cloud Zero
(Jan 31, 2012 - 19:53)
Attention PT fans (and I'm a BIG one). Do yourself a favor. If you can't see one of their shows, pick up the DVD's of their live performances on Anesthetize and Arriving Somewhere. Watching and experiencing this band perform live is another level you aren't getting by just listening to their music. Steven Wilson and the entire band are soooo excellent live. I have to break out these DVD's regularly. Listening to a CD just isn't the same as seeing them perform.

Muddy Waters - Got My Mojo Workin'
(Jan 31, 2012 - 11:55)
Is there anyone better?? Not really.... B.B., Howlin', John Lee, Jr Wells. Love 'em all!

Lynyrd Skynyrd - The Ballad Of Curtis Loew
(Jan 31, 2012 - 10:14)
Good song overall, but basically white-boy pseudo blues. Listenable, but lacks satisfactory level of authenticity.

Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
(Jan 28, 2012 - 11:49)
I just love ABBA!

Billie Holiday - Crazy He Calls Me
(Jan 26, 2012 - 07:41)
I feel so sorry for those who do not understand that this number is such an EASY 10.....

Roxy Music - Avalon
(Jan 25, 2012 - 08:25)
Best skin music EVER!

Genesis - Abacab
(Jan 23, 2012 - 11:25)
Yup... There's a hole in there somewhere..

Patty Griffin - Sweet Lorraine
(Jan 18, 2012 - 11:42)
Just don't get the non-believers on this tune. It touches deep into the soul with some of the most far reaching lyrics I know. Forget the voice (even though I love it). Couldn't we all pick on Neil Young or Dylan for his voice? I don't get it. Great artist, great album...

I agree, but if you watch some of the Youtube interviews with Mercer, he seemed really frustrated with the band. I think he was the only true creative contributor to the albums and felt he was dragging everyone else along. I think maybe working with Danger Mouse really opened his eyes. I just don't know why he doesn't call himself a solo act at this point. Is it really "The Shins" when it's just one person?

The Shins - Simple Song
(Jan 11, 2012 - 07:29)
I just love The Shins. Interesting that Mercer cleaned out the entire band. It looks like every single band members was replaced and I hear he plays almost all instruments on the actual album. So are the band members for touring only?. This (and all Shins albums) sounds great to me, but is he some kind of control freak?

Talking Heads - Crosseyed And Painless

There is no component of this song that isn't pure genius...{#Bananajumprope}

David Bowie - Starman
(Jan 09, 2012 - 12:26)
So, so far ahead of his time.....

Paul McCartney - Uncle Albert-Admiral Halsey
(Jan 09, 2012 - 11:53)
Great addition to the rotation, Bill. Takes me waaay back. I always liked John much better, but this song is proof that there never would have been The Beatles without Paul.... Thanks!

Spoon - Got Nuffin
(Dec 20, 2011 - 07:30)
Saw them live several months back and they TORE IT UP on this song....

Pat Metheny - New Chautauqua
(Oct 15, 2011 - 18:59)

Beethoven - Symphony No.5 - Allegro Con Brio
(Jul 24, 2011 - 20:20)
I don't care how many stupid a$$ commercials, cartoons, etc. you remember for this song. it's a 10! OK?? Genius! (Mozart may have been sliiiiightly better...)

Little Feat - Kokomo
(Jul 24, 2011 - 19:57)
Oh, so good and tight!
