David Gilmour - On An Island
(Apr 26, 2006 - 11:29)
With David Crosby and Graham Nash on this cut, it makes one wonder if the new supergroup of 2010 will consist of anyone 65 or older who is still living and who continues to play and sing?

an uneven album for sure, but it has its moments.

The La's - There She Goes
(Aug 16, 2004 - 10:36)
Still love the original version, tho the Sixpence version was decent enough. Doldrums is the other great cut on the same LP. thanks!
Xymox - Blind Hearts
(Aug 13, 2004 - 07:18)
Still their classic LP - thanks for the upload!
Poi Dog Pondering - Collarbone
(Aug 12, 2004 - 09:41)
One of the most overlooked but talented groups around - incredible performances live. This is a wonderful album - good one for beginners.
The Cure - Purple Haze
(Aug 05, 2004 - 14:55)
If it were simply an imitation of the original, it wouldn't be art. This was my favorite cut on this tribute LP.
Love Spit Love - Am I Wrong
(Aug 03, 2004 - 12:23)
It's a great song and deserved to be uploaded right away! Loved the Furs and feel the same about LSL. Incredibly, I saw them (as LSL) at a tiny local club here in Kentucky! Thanks for the upload. How about the codeine cut?
Xymox - Losing My Head
(Jul 21, 2004 - 10:59)
Xymox / Clan of Xymox is one of my all-time favorite internationally obscure bands, and since RP has elected to play the Chameleons, it makes perfect sense to broaden the circle to include these folks. Medusa is a wonderful LP; Twist of Shadows the most classic (still found in the cutout bins) with Blind Hearts, which still gets airplay in my house. Avoid Metamorphosis as a first introduction, since it was recorded on a different label and tried to be a dance track (tho I liked it okay ultimately).
All About Eve - What Kind Of Fool
(Jul 21, 2004 - 10:49)
I am totally blown away! No James Bond feel to the albums, that's for sure. And how could this group be boring with Marty Willson-Piper (the Church), a Sisters of Mercy bandmember and a couple of uncredited appearances by David Gilmour on an earlier album (this was rumored)?! Winter Words is a decent collection of most of their "hits" (not in the US, of course) with some rareties that are listenable, although not all versions are the original and some winners are omitted in the tradition of most compilations (it's a very long LP as I recall - you get your money's worth if you are looking for an overview). Scarlet may be the most interesting LP. Thanks for the upload - this was a group I had asked to hear previously.
A3 - Let the Caged Bird Sing
(Jul 14, 2004 - 14:30)
Yes! A3 at last (and something besides the Soprano's theme song). I hope we'll be hearing more of their material!
The Chameleons - Dangerous Land
(Jul 09, 2004 - 11:17)
I haven't played this one for a while - need to revisit it, clearly. These guys have managed to keep the quality level high over the years. Thanks for the upload -
Lush - Nothing Natural
(Jul 09, 2004 - 09:45)
These folks haven't received the airplay they have deserved (tho MTV did show videos for 3-4 cuts back in the day when videos were actually played). Every album is good despite some muddy production work in places. Great stuff!
The Waterboys - Higher In Time
(Jul 07, 2004 - 11:22)
Classic Waterboys - love it! Better, tho, is This is the Sea (@1990?), with the Whole of the Moon. Medicine Bow, etc. All the Things that She Gave Me (A Pagan Place) is a classic post-breakup rant. Mike Scott never did a well on his own, tho bandmate Karl Wallinger (World Party) remains a favorite of mine. Thanks!
Chameleons - Swamp Thing
(Jul 06, 2004 - 14:52)
Wow - I didn't expect to hear this! Wonderful album. Check out their later reincarnation as the Moon and the Stars. Script of the Bridge is a classic '80s LP. Thank you!
Gomez - Revolutionary Kind
(May 20, 2004 - 11:10)
One of my favorite Gomez cuts - thanks!
Slowdive - Alison
(Jan 06, 2004 - 11:35)
Whoa! Pulling 'em out of the vault today, are we?! Great classic album featuring Neil Halstead himself (Mohave 3, Hope Blister, etc.). Thanks!
Loop Guru - Single Orphan First Year Camel
(Jan 06, 2004 - 07:52)
Still the best LG album, tho 1995's Duniya is a contender as well - thank you! Invest in one or the other of these as a first purchase; avoid Cleopatra. The new Bathtime with LP is fun, but it's not up to the the earlier standards.
Alpinestars - Hotel Parallel
(Nov 20, 2003 - 05:46)
Very retro - sounds like early Chapterhouse. Nice, and I'll get the free s & h on Amazon because I order way too much.
Lush - Undertow
(Nov 05, 2003 - 12:55)
Finally! some quality shoe-gazer material - wonderful!!!
Stranglers - 96 Tears
(Oct 09, 2003 - 08:00)
It has been an "interesting" day for covers (Wilco doing Steely Dan?!)....RP needs to play some Dave Stewart/Barbara Gaskin covers, esp. 8 Miles High - wonderful!
The Church - Myrrh
(Oct 06, 2003 - 13:35)
Some newer Church tracks would be lovely - they've still got it!
House of Love - Yer Eyes
(Oct 01, 2003 - 14:35)
From one of the best internationally obscure bands that no longer exists....still a favorite album, and this cut is one of the better ones on it. thank you, RP!!!
The Shins - The Past And The Pending
(Sep 22, 2003 - 11:59)
Definitely the best song on the album. Too bad most of the remainder doesn't measure up. Very nice video for this one.
Diana Krall - Fly Me to the Moon
(Sep 22, 2003 - 10:51)
I feel like I'm back in dancing school again trying to learn the foxtrot (not voluntarily) - yuck! No more, please! :puke:
Samples - Did You Ever Look So Nice
(Sep 22, 2003 - 06:48)

One of my favourite Samples songs. I've seen these guys live numerous times and they've never let me down. This is probably one of their best albums (in my opinion). Check them out at (click here). They still tour extensively and tickets are usually under $15. Oh yeah - and Taking Us Home was used in a Disney home video commercial a few years back :)

Still my favorite LP of theirs and also my favorite on the LP. After the keyboard player left (after Last Drag, maybe?), both the recordings and the live performances suffered somewhat, but these guys are real troupers, and I still buy their music.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Red Eyes And Tears
(Sep 19, 2003 - 13:20)
eddief wrote:
Anyone seen these guys in concert? My only exposure to them so far has been on RP and I've liked what little I've heard so far. They're coming soon to my fair city and thought they'd be worth checking out live. Anyone in RP land care to share a review?

They opened for the Dandy Warhols in Cincy a couple of years ago, and although I had never heard of them prior to the concert (and had been burned on any number of bad openers so I was totally skeptical), I thought they were great - a lot of fun. I'd pay to see 'em again - Dandys, too, of course.
Steve Earle - Rivers Of Babylon
(Sep 19, 2003 - 09:50)
A little Steve Earle goes a LONG way.....and this particular cut seems like an endless highway. No more, please? <-o<
Sky Cries Mary - Shipwrecked
(Sep 18, 2003 - 14:43)
I'm just stunned. I didn't add SCM to my lists of requests because I was so sure very few listeners knew who they were. RP has been on a real roll today. What's next, Big Hat?!!! Wow! Another totally underappreciated group (and this is from their best LP imho).
Single Gun Theory - From a Million Miles
(Sep 18, 2003 - 14:10)
YES! still one of my favorite internationally obscure groups after all these years. Earlier albums are more uneven, but they all have their moments of grace. Thank you!
Flaming Lips - In The Morning Of The Magician
(Sep 03, 2003 - 10:54)
Imagine an entire club filled with people singing this at top volume along with the band while an assortment of furry creatures dance on stage and huge balloons are floating over the audience.....they don't just give a concert - it's a major production... :D
Concrete Blonde - Heal It Up
(Sep 03, 2003 - 09:22)
This entire album is a classic - thanks!
Midnight Oil - The Dead Heart
(Sep 01, 2003 - 12:30)
This remains my favorite overall Oils album - I'm not worn out on it after all these years! thanks for playing a group that never got any airplay in our part of this country.
Sigur Rós - Svefn g-englar (original mix)
(Sep 01, 2003 - 10:59)
This was one of the most incredible shows I've ever attended - uplifting, mesmerizing, gorgeous. True, it's not for keeping one awake on the highway late at night, but this cut and the entire album are over the top.
Over the Rhine - Jesus In New Orleans
(Sep 01, 2003 - 10:43)
Much as I love Over the Rhine, I find this particular cut to be a little too twangy and laid back. Maybe the influence of the Cowboy Junkies when they toured together?
Paul Brady - The World Is What You Make It
(Sep 01, 2003 - 08:49)
He can record some mediocre stuff, but just listen to songs like Dancer in the Fire or Cold, Cold Night from his classic Hard Station album - wow! this one is very likeable but without the emotion of some of the older material.
The Church - Under The Milky Way
(Sep 01, 2003 - 07:40)
I never tire of this one.....thank you!

Over the Rhine - Anything At All
(Aug 22, 2003 - 14:10)
I am so happy that you folks like OtR - they don't get this kind of airplay in Cincinnati, that's for sure - thank you! again, that website for a current article in the local arts rag is: http://citybeat.com/current/index.shtml
Chemical Brothers - The Golden Path (w/ Flaming Lips)
(Aug 22, 2003 - 14:04)
whoa - where did THIS come from?! and how can it miss with two of my favorites.....great choice for Friday afternoon!
Over the Rhine - Show Me
(Aug 22, 2003 - 11:31)
We have followed OtR for many years, and they just keep getting better(very personable in concert, too). Good beginner's LP would be Good Dog, Bad Dog. btw, they opened for Cowboy Junkies on a recent tour (they appear in the Junkies' tour DVD). Take a look at the current article in the local Cincy arts rag at http://citybeat.com/current/index.shtml.
Neil Young - Sun Green
(Aug 22, 2003 - 08:55)
okay, I'm getting tired of it now.
Peter Himmelman - Fly So High
(Aug 20, 2003 - 14:35)
Play more from Synesthesia - still my favorite of his after all these years. <-o<
Cocteau Twins - Road, River And Rail
(Aug 19, 2003 - 10:26)
Loved both the album and this cut in particular. RP has really been on a roll today -
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
(Aug 18, 2003 - 07:44)
I really needed this today - thank you.
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere/Wonderful
(Aug 14, 2003 - 14:15)
AGAIN?!!!!!! how about some Mercury Rev instead?!
U2 - Beautiful Day
(Aug 13, 2003 - 14:39)

Brilliant. Yes, I've heard it way too many times thanks to corporate radio, but I still remember how magical it was the first 100 times.

it was still magical the 101st time imho....
Dobie Gray - Drift Away
(Aug 12, 2003 - 10:37)
:P :puke:
Booker T. & The M.G.s - Green Onions
(Aug 12, 2003 - 07:43)
I just never get tired of hearing this - my definition of a classic!
Robbie Robertson - Broken Arrow
(Aug 11, 2003 - 09:47)
Digga wrote:
How about playing something from "Music for the Native Americans"

or from Contact from the Underworld of Red Boy! Robbie just takes the breath away -
The Church - Under The Milky Way
(Aug 11, 2003 - 09:09)
I never tire of this one.....thank you!

John Kongos - He's Gonna Step On You Again
(Aug 08, 2003 - 11:13)
Whoa! I knew it wasn't the happy mondays - appreciate the history lesson! 8O
Loop Guru - Caravan
(Aug 08, 2003 - 10:57)
I've been a Loop Guru fan for years. This album, and especially Amrita and Duniya, are the best, although the new one is certainly listenable. Avoid Fountains of Paradise - this one is mostly just sound effects. Please play more of them!
Sigur Rós - Untitled Track 8
(Aug 07, 2003 - 11:13)
one of the best concerts I have ever attended - incredible show!
Beth Orton - Pass In Time
(Aug 07, 2003 - 10:48)
she does other duets with him on the BBit ep - equally dismal, but she was quite proud of those efforts. he may be ok on his own, but the combination, much as I love Beth, is beyond my limit. :headshake:
Morphine - The Night
(Aug 07, 2003 - 10:17)
gosh, I miss this guy.....RIP. thanks for keeping Morphine alive -
Gomez - Ping One Down
(Aug 06, 2003 - 11:50)
sure would like to hear Hangover, Revolutionary Kind, or esp We Haven't Turned Around.......
Kristin Hersh - Your Ghost
(Aug 06, 2003 - 08:50)
thank you for playing this today - I needed it after STP slapped me around earlier. I love this song (and the video was good, too).
Audioslave - Hypnotize
(Aug 04, 2003 - 14:14)
Too heavy on this rotation. Audioslave twice in one afternoon is just too much.
Beth Orton - Anywhere
(Aug 04, 2003 - 11:49)

Najma - Ghoom Charakahna (Talvin Singh remix]
(Aug 04, 2003 - 10:42)
Fairly typical Bollywood, esp with Talvin Singh, but very listenable -
Doves - Last Broadcast
(Aug 01, 2003 - 13:13)
wow - I thought we were commenting on the actual album track - silly me! I love these people - the Doves, not the people commenting.
Samples - Taxi
(Aug 01, 2003 - 09:13)
We've also seen them several times. They hold up well - play more!
