Ultravox - Vienna
(Jul 30, 2007 - 13:45)
Yeah,

But, for a time and place, it fits, no?

The Police - Driven To Tears
(Jan 29, 2007 - 14:56)
Oui ! Oui!!!
Lightning Seeds - Pure
(May 15, 2006 - 15:59)
Pure. Pop.

Well done.
Neko Case - Dirty Knife
(May 01, 2006 - 16:03)
Geez, is there any song on this LP that is not just so sweet and fine?

Sea Ray - Revelry
(Apr 18, 2006 - 14:14)
The version recorded live at KEXP was brilliant... much better, more intimate, more emotional.

Never heard the studio version until now. I'll stick with the live version :)

Moodswings - Spiritual High (State Of Independence) Part II
(Apr 03, 2006 - 13:32)
Barfo.
Pineapple Thief - We Subside
(Apr 03, 2006 - 13:29)
I believe pretentious might be an applicable word, here.

Interesting, for a bit.

Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
(Dec 12, 2005 - 15:46)
Well, no dude, actually, "everyone" knew Picasso could paint when he was in his teens.

Cheers

no dude, chinese restaurants ram MSG down your throat. Dylan just writes what's on his mind and he certainly wouldn't care if nobody listened. as for his musical ability, nobody thought picasso could paint either...

Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi Is Dead
(Oct 31, 2005 - 11:00)
This maybe a great song, but it's not good Monday morning music :)

Rolling Stones - Driving Too Fast
(Sep 01, 2005 - 11:33)
Yawn.
Mark Stuart + Stacey Earle - Lay Down
(Aug 27, 2005 - 11:56)
Cloying, insipid, altogether forgettable.
Belle & Sebastian - Sleep the Clock Around
(Aug 21, 2005 - 21:43)
Does anyone else here any Brian Eno at the start of this tune?
Grand National - Talk Amongst Yourselves
(Aug 18, 2005 - 11:19)
Don't remember the name of the band... but the first minute of this song reminds me of the beginning of the song that had the refrain: "Riding on the Metro", by ?????.

Johnny Clegg & Savuka - Scatterlings of Africa
(Aug 15, 2005 - 14:47)
Dear me .. and my fading memory ..what was the song from the early-mid 80's...It Never Rains in Africa is the lyric ... by Toto???

Sort of reminds me of that
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.

Yes. Yes. It does, does'nt it?

Have you seen the video?

Mark Stuart + Stacey Earle - Lay Down
(Aug 12, 2005 - 15:31)
Make this stop. Please
Wilco - Red-Eyed and Blue
(Aug 12, 2005 - 14:40)
Hear a bit of "California Stars' in there, too.
Susan Tedeschi - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
(Aug 12, 2005 - 14:37)
Can I edit my rating? Downwards?
Appliance - Pacifica
(Aug 01, 2005 - 14:51)
As the song started, I swore I heard the opening licks to Train in Vain (Clash).
Death Cab For Cutie - Title and Registration
(Jul 28, 2005 - 14:04)
Time.to.remove.headphones.at.work.and.tunein.radioioclassical.for.5.minutes.
Stereophonics - Dakota
(Jul 28, 2005 - 14:02)
On the scale of suckitude this rates somewhere in the middle methinks.

But, I'll tell ya this band does write a snappy tune now and then.
Josh Rouse - It's The Nighttime
(Jul 27, 2005 - 16:08)
The song is so-so, I agree. But damn, it DOES have a nice hook.

The Dead 60s - A Different Age
(Jul 22, 2005 - 13:07)
Hmmmm, sounds like a tune one might have heard on the Repo Man soundtrack.
The Kinks - Celluloid Heroes
(Jul 21, 2005 - 14:19)
Have'nt heard this for, say, 5-8 years???

Still sounds good to me.

Genesis - Watcher of the Skies
(Jul 19, 2005 - 15:05)
Oddly refreshing.

Brings me back to nights in the dorm with friends, herbage, and records ... Bowie, Bee Bop Delux, Klaatu, Clash, Rundgren, etc.

I always preferred Supper's Ready, though... the apotheosis of Prog Rock, in my book.

Beck - Golden Age
(Jul 15, 2005 - 15:56)
Had this mixed in with some Daniel Lanois, Randy Newman, etc.

Helped me see the GF thru chemo.

One of the songs for a certain time and place... and will always be that time and place.

Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun
(Jul 01, 2005 - 13:49)
Or Brian Eno's Here Come The Warm Jets.

Tracy Chapman - Smoke And Ashes
(Jul 01, 2005 - 10:06)
I've tried to like TC's music. I've tried, believe me. I find it just so unrelentingly grim and solemn.

I find, as an alternative, Joan Armitrading's music a bit more melodic and interesting... and she lighten's up once in awhile.

But, given the comments I see here, I am definately in the minority!!!

Kathleen Edwards - In State
(Jun 29, 2005 - 10:10)
Have enjoyed her music.... the songs tend to run together after a bit, but always nice to hear her once in a while.

James McMurtry - Levelland (live)
(Jun 09, 2005 - 14:17)
A nice segue would be this into Big Country by Talking Heads
Clem Snide - Messiah Complex Blues
(Jun 09, 2005 - 14:12)
Catchy tune. Banal lyrics.
Sophie Zelmani - Once
(May 25, 2005 - 13:35)
I'am sorry. truly. I'll usually give anything a chance, but this song just makes me tear out the earbuds.
Tracy Chapman - Mountain O' Things
(May 04, 2005 - 13:51)
I WANT to like TC...
I WANT to like her lyrics.
I WANT to like her music.

I've tried. But, I can't.

Pablum.

Riverside - General Nature
(May 02, 2005 - 15:55)
If someone writes a review ... and no one reads the review...does it exist?

Never saw this before on RP ...a song without a review.

I'll bite...it's OK, nothing great, nothing bad, just OK filler. The voice sounds vaguely familiar. A bit 'New Orderish'...just a tad.

Thievery Corporation - Doors Of Perception (Feat Gunjan)
(Apr 25, 2005 - 13:04)
I'm sorry. I know I am going against the grain, but the more I hear of TC, the less I enjoy their music.

Interesting, at times.
Well produced, good production values, yes.

I realize the music is fully realized...but I fail to see the soul behind the tune(s).

Ah, well...I'am glad some people are enjoying it!

Afro Celt Sound System - Release
(Apr 11, 2005 - 13:02)
radiojunkie wrote:

Probably not a big sacrifice, since I doubt they HAVE any "LP's"!

Oh, I know! But it's nice to say 'LP' once in awhile.
Afro Celt Sound System - Release
(Apr 11, 2005 - 12:54)
The only place I hear Afro Celt Sound System is here on Radio Paradise.

And, the more I hear them, the less I want to own their LP's.
