Super Furry Animals - Run! Christian, Run!
(Sep 17, 2010 - 15:30)
Nice! A distribution like this means it has something going on in there. yup.

Cowboy Junkies - Thunder Road
(Aug 21, 2010 - 16:13)
Folks, this just needs a remix. Bring the band up loud, and drop the vocal back into it. Not because it is a bad vocal, it's not, the song just needs a loud band. The end of the song with just the band was nice...

Robert Plant - Angel Dance
(Aug 16, 2010 - 09:37)
It isn't musical, and it's barely rhythmic. Nice try, tho...

Eric Burdon & the Animals - San Franciscan Nights
(Aug 01, 2010 - 14:25)
"there's no place left to go" This is the point where Eric began to take himself and his music way too seriously. And then checked out. Awesome voice that guy has, tho.

Some Say Leland - The City is Flooding

Michael Franks - B'wana He No Home

Bob Dylan - One More Cup Of Coffee

Let's not - forget - to BOOGIE!

Kaleidoscope - Keep Your Mind Open
(Jul 23, 2009 - 07:23)
Beacon from Mars.... Now that's FAR Out!

Mothers of Invention - Trouble Every Day
(Jul 19, 2009 - 13:05)
First album I ever bought. Way too much for it's day. Spot on!

Portishead - Glory Box
(May 01, 2009 - 19:46)
I upped it to a 9, but it shoulda been a 10 really. Guilt is good. yes, yes, yes.

The White Stripes - The Denial Twist
(Apr 10, 2009 - 10:16)
Been there done that. Lee Michaels and Frosty the barehanded drummer.
Not a complaint, just a statement.

Santana - Eternal Caravan/Waves Within
(Feb 08, 2009 - 06:39)
Santana's crickets leading out of the Doors Spanish Caravan. Nice!

Paolo Nutini - Jenny Don't Be Hasty
(Feb 02, 2009 - 07:01)
A rather ordinary song that has been improved by the segue to Tommy Tutone. Hilarious! Coupla good bar-bands, though. I'd sit through another set if the beer was good enough.

Dido - Honestly OK
(Jan 23, 2009 - 14:15)
Import CD with bonus trax - 2008. Quite nice

Is this a remix? I have this album and just don't remember it this way. In fact, I thought it was Thievery Corporation at first...Odd.

Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love (live)
(Jan 20, 2009 - 06:47)
Jamming Jeff at their best, but....while the band could jam like hell, Grace could not. Too screechy.

The Pretenders - Rosalee
(Dec 03, 2008 - 14:37)

Interesting hearing her play off Jim Keltner instead of Martin Chambers.

I'll second that...Any record with Jim Keltner on it is OK by me. Ms. Hynde works it really well. Very cool. Somebody will have to put this under the tree for me.

Imogen Heap - The Walk
(Sep 06, 2008 - 09:08)
Sounds like JB's hot rod in there

Traffic - Freedom Rider
(Aug 27, 2008 - 16:07)
G/FR - Top THIS!   Go on, I dare ya...it just doesn't get much better than this.

Katie Melua - It's All In My Head
(Aug 16, 2008 - 16:48)
Awright.  Step aside, I can fix THIS.

Fleetwood Mac - Sands Of Time
(May 13, 2008 - 21:33)
Yeah, ok this band set a high standard early on that was tough to live up to, (Then play on) but there was so much great stuff they did, including this one, when you stop and DON'T compare with the other stuff. With any other band it would have been so cool. You gotta listen with more than one perspective.

Nice Zero-7 segue...
Robin Trower - Day of The Eagle
(May 13, 2008 - 20:46)

Not bad, but if I want Hendrix I choose Hendrix. Personally I prefer Scott Finch´s guitar skills....

Yeah right.. What makes you so sure that Hendrix actually invented EVERYTHING he did? Even the Gods learn from somebody else. Robin was doing this stuff buried behind keyboards in Procol. Those idiots produced him out of the mix most of the time. They made great music, to be sure, but they kept him locked up.
Savoy Brown - I'm Tired
(Dec 05, 2007 - 15:38)
Chris Youlden's vocals were the kind. He made Mr. Simmonds play differently, and it was very cool. So cool.
Led Zeppelin - Your Time is Gonna Come/Black Mountain Side
(Apr 22, 2007 - 05:16)

1969. and yet as fresh as today. Incredible acoustic guitar work. No one was doing that back then. It blew us all away.

Jorma was....
Ellen McIlwaine - Up From the Skies
(Apr 15, 2007 - 09:08)
I love that promo only cover! Brings back used record store memories. Perhaps Ms Jones did one better than Ellen's, but RLJ was a deadbeat Venice waif when this was recorded, and you can bet it was on her mind when she did hers. Back in the day, though, this was a very cool FM tune. Thanks, Bill!
Jeff Beck - Beck's Bolero
(Apr 12, 2007 - 17:59)
Bill O'meter = 11
Bendeniz - Kirmizi Biber
(Apr 12, 2007 - 17:58)
My Bill O'Meter just hit a 10. Not so much for this tune, but for the set. This is a BMR, dude.
Crosby Stills Nash & Young - Country Girl
(Mar 31, 2007 - 08:15)
I think there are TOO MANY words on this page, but it is great when art causes emotion of any kind. That means it is working.
Southern Culture On The Skids - Camel Walk
(Mar 31, 2007 - 07:53)
Anyone who doesn't like this is taking themselves WAY too seriously.. Lil Debbie and camel-walking in the same song: Godlike!

Catchy intro too!
Frank Sinatra - That's Life
(Mar 09, 2007 - 11:44)
In the late 70's I went to a Frank show at the Universal Ampitheatre, and there was a whole row of spiked-out punkers in front of us who were there early and into the show from start to finish. It was quite a spectacle. actually. Outside of Hendrix, Frank is the only performer I've seen who has the entire hall in his control for the full performance. From the back row of the orchestra to the back row of the hall, the place was HIS.
Muse - Knights of Cydonia
(Mar 08, 2007 - 16:04)
What a bunch of winers! When you have two peaks in the distribution, it means that it is really cool. Play it more and the rest of negatives will turn positive.
Chicago - I'm A Man
(Feb 25, 2007 - 09:08)
Great first album. South CA Purples was a cool one too.
Sons of Champlin's first album was better tho...
Quetzal - Planta De Los Pies
(Feb 10, 2007 - 20:04)
These guys played in our Arts Festival here in Warwick NY out on the Black Dirt last summer and it was very cool. Even the locals who couldn't possibly have understood what they were singing were up and dancing. Muy bitchin'
Jefferson Airplane - 3-5s of a Mile in 10 Seconds
(Oct 01, 2006 - 05:43)
This one has a unique rating pattern, doesn't it? Both loved and hated, which to me has the mark of real greatness.

I didn't like this album when it came out, but it grew on me...these guys never sounded live like their first two albums, and what you hear on this song is just what they were live. Jack and Jorma moving things along, and the dissonant vocal combination of Grace and Marty - who each had their moments/it went both ways - and when they had this thing going well, they were cookin'.
Rolling Stones - Monkey Man
(Sep 30, 2006 - 16:55)
I saw them tour this album with the Ike and Tina Revue at the Forum in LA. It was the second show at around 3 AM....Oh yeah! The next show for me was the Voodo Lounge at the Rose Bowl.

Whattaband - none made like this anymore, or are there?
