The Cure - Fascination Street (Sep 15, 2005 - 18:17) | The Cure was my first ever concert, I was 15 or 16 it was 1986 or so I think it was Radio City Music hall of all places. Me and my best friend had no Idea what to expect, we just listened to their albums by ourselves (I would load up on music on my trips to UK to stay w/my Dad), and when we got to the show it was one Giant Pulsing Black Ocean of Goths!, and us in our Esprit outfits! It was fun. ahh memories....

Heather Nova - Gloomy Sunday (Sep 15, 2005 - 16:12) | mediocre cover, feeble.
The last verse is not original to the song,(to answer the hungarian a few posts back) Billie had to add them in order to lift the ban on this song. At the time of it's original realese people were leaping out of windows at an alarming rate.

"Autopilot" you hit the nail on the head.

Madeleine Peyroux - Between The Bars (Sep 10, 2005 - 23:32) | I adore Billie Holiday, and find it sad that someone would bother to do such a wholesale impersonation. The phrasing, everything a total rip off. Why not be original, especially when you have a decent enough voice?
|
Stranglers - Golden Brown (Sep 10, 2005 - 23:05) | pretty much one of my fave songs. Even though I'm not doing smack, it does take me away, maybe it's the harpsichord.......

Cesaria Évora - Fior Di Nha Esperanca (Sep 10, 2005 - 13:50) | diane wrote: Love the voice. The background sounds a bit muddled, almost as if two things were being played on top of each other.

From Steely Dan F.A.Q.:
"With the core band recruited, Donald and Walter need(ed) a name for their group. Since both of them were avid readers of 1950's "Beat" literature, they decided to name the band "Steely Dan" after a dildo in William Burroughs' 'Naked Lunch.'"
that explains everything
