For f*ck's sake!

That's it. Time for a break from RP.

BoDeans - Good Things

tawanda wrote:
This song makes me grind my teeth -- not only the lame melody but those damn lyrics: Hey, guys, it's "good things for you and ME," not "you and I."

Grammar trumps rhyme.

I'm with you, sister. Makes me cringe. Like the Doors: "You know that they would be a liar". Grrr.

Jack Johnson - Inaudible Melodies
(Nov 20, 2003 - 23:02)
Most of this guy's stuff sounds pretty bland and the same so I guess it is relaxing... like elevator music.
Michael Miller - Gracetown
(Nov 20, 2003 - 22:59)
Whether it's a chick or not, Zzzzzzzzzz.
Dave Matthews - Too High
(Nov 20, 2003 - 22:49)
Arghhhh! Just heard him 4 hours ago! Please, please ease up on the DM, Bill.
Sting - Never Coming Home
(Nov 20, 2003 - 20:30)
Well-crafted muzak. Geez, I hope you get over this album soon, Bill.
Chemical Brothers - The Golden Path (w/ Flaming Lips)
(Nov 20, 2003 - 19:27)
I kinda liked this until those horrible, whiny vocals kicked in toward the end.
Dave Matthews Band - Crush
(Nov 20, 2003 - 18:26)
Ugh. More of the same old rambling crap from this guy.
Howard Jones - Like To Get To Know You Well
(Nov 20, 2003 - 13:42)
Laughably bad!

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
(Nov 11, 2003 - 12:39)
Thanks for playing the studio version, Bill. Soo much better than that live version you were playing before, IMO.
Yerba Buena - La Gringa
(Nov 11, 2003 - 11:45)
Seriously annoying.
Midge Ure - Answers To Nothing
(Nov 11, 2003 - 10:03)
I think that the 3.6 rating this had before Bill started begging was a bit generous but not totally unreasonable.
Starsailor - Some Of Us
(Nov 11, 2003 - 01:47)
Lame lyrics.
Nik Kershaw - Wouldn't It Be Good
(Nov 09, 2003 - 19:17)

Ha ha! Good one!
Folk Implosion - Fuse
(Nov 06, 2003 - 17:46)
God, this song seems lamer and lamer every time I hear it. Well, at least it isn't getting played once or twice a day anymore. Thanks for that, Bill.
Manu Chao - Mr. Bobby
(Nov 06, 2003 - 13:22)
Yeah, we didn't get enough of that freakin' dinging in the bongo song. :puke:
The Thrills - Big Sur
(Nov 01, 2003 - 10:19)
Zulu, ahead Cheese factor 10!
Kate Markowitz - Pride & Vanity
(Nov 01, 2003 - 10:18)
Parts remind me of Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees...

You know it's all right. It's OK.
I'll live to see another day.
We can try to understand
the New York Times' effect on man.

Eastmountainsouth - Show Me The River
(Sep 29, 2003 - 18:49)
So trite it's sickening.
Rodney Crowell - Fate's Right Hand
(Sep 29, 2003 - 16:32)
This song should have been named Fate's *Left* Hand -- you know, the "wiping" hand. ;)
Don Ross - Afraid to Dance
(Sep 29, 2003 - 14:11)
Tasty!
Michael Miller - When We Come To
(Sep 25, 2003 - 21:53)

:puke:
Tears For Fears - Change
(Sep 17, 2003 - 22:49)
Some songs sound dated but in a good way--nostalgic, I suppose. This one just sounds dated.

Really hate to say this, I know it's not PC, but just because the guy is dying doesn't mean this particular song is anything special. For me it's unlistenable. Would I listen to this on a pleasant afternoon or evening while relaxing with my wife and kid? Seriously don't think so. I guess it's an attempt at a blues dirge from the Robert Johnson frame of reference, but I just don't like it. Blugh.

F*ck PC. You don't like this song and that's Ok! I'm curious though, you find songs listenable only if you would listen to them on a pleasant afternoon or evening while relaxing with your wife and kid? IMO, there are a whole lotta great songs that don't fit into that category (and this is one of them).

I still have a soft spot for these guys. I particularly like the drums and bass on this tune.
Cranberries - Never Grow Old
(Sep 04, 2003 - 16:26)

Have to say I don't care for many of the covers I hear at RP (especially Tori Anus's).

I like this though. Weird. Johnny seems to convey a certain vulnerability and weariness that I find touching.
