Leonard Cohen - Who By Fire (live) (May 02, 2007 - 07:44) | Pazzat wrote:
I think most people, including those who don't usually bother with lyrics, could get 'Giving me head on an unmade bed'...
What does this mean "giving head"? Is thinking very intensely about something?

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (Apr 16, 2007 - 06:57) | I totally agree SRV is there technically but Hendrix has much better phrasing, more subtle, that comes in under the radar and hits you in a "damn where did that come from" unexpected way. Hendrix's timing "rides" and "flirts" with the beat instead of simply following it.
|
Tom Waits - Step Right Up (Apr 10, 2007 - 10:02) | A good way to write lyrics is to drive down the road and write down all the words you see.
|
Neil Young - Cortez The Killer (Apr 03, 2007 - 06:01) | Sounds like a 13 year old trying to play lead (that or stoned). Nice melody though. Probably stoned.

Ry Cooder & Vishwa Mohan Bhatt - Isa Lei (Jan 25, 2007 - 08:43) | NeuroJoe wrote:
You know what they say: "Opinions are like as*holes, and yours stinks the most."
They are off at times, so i agree with this opinion - it's just badly done.

The word is spelled "IDIOT." If you're going to insult me, then at least learn to spell correctly. (I can appreciate your choice of the name "parrothead.") Now you listen, birdbrain, there is no plane on that film. If you can show me a plane in those few frames, I'll pay you whatever amount of money you demand. Take another look at: http://www.propagandamatrix.com/articles/may2006/170506pentagonquestions.htm
The Bush administration pulled off 9/11. Wake up, birdbrain! Wake up, USA!
What do you think a jet looks like from the side?? YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SEE THE WINGS. Granted the Bush administration may be nuts, but you're just another kind of nuts.

I don't know what they're saying, but whatever it is had better be good! It's hard to put down such a relaxing tune though.

Grey Eye Glances - Close Your Eyes (Jan 16, 2007 - 05:59) | Darkmatter wrote: Kind of Evanescence-esque, sans the goth/angst posture.
And the album cover is very X-files.
The middle-aged cyber geek posture?

Filter - Take A Picture (Jan 12, 2007 - 11:59) | I rememnber what it was like to pop out into the cold world... bright lights in my face and loud voices. Then a slap on the butt. I just wanted to get back in there after 9 months of kicking to get out.
|
Michael Penn - No Myth (acoustic) (Jan 10, 2007 - 08:38) | The strumming gets on my nerves and so does the singing. When I have to turn is off it gets an automatic 1. It completely rubs me the wrong way. Just not my thing I guess.

Jesse DeNatale - Twilight King (Jan 09, 2007 - 09:30) | strick wrote: Interesting, but I could do without the background singers.
..but they're so angelic.

Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder - Diaraby (Jan 08, 2007 - 11:32) | "His music is widely regarded as representing a point of intersection of traditional Malian music and its North American cousin, the blues." (wiki)
Wow....

Heather Nova - Walk This World (Jan 08, 2007 - 09:17) | ThePoose wrote: I feel you in the garden

Doesn't get much more blatant than that.
Yea not too subtle is it... I don't think I'll go, but thanks. 5 (in)Decent.
|
Hem - Old Adam (Jan 08, 2007 - 07:14) | A bit corny but I love it. Short too, that has to be under 2 minutes.

I bet he's a good welder too.
|
Thom Yorke - Harrowdown Hill (Jan 05, 2007 - 08:48) | Everything's off balance. Probably deliberately. I like to hear at least a couple of things that keep a song grounded.
|
Thievery Corporation - Shadows of Ourselves (Dec 22, 2006 - 08:30) | Je n'ai pas le temps de perdre la tête
I don't have time to lose my head (as in lose my cool / go mad / lose my bearings)
Pour nous sauver de nous-même
To save us from ourselves
|
Cracker - Something You Ain't Got (Dec 20, 2006 - 06:47) | It's something you do not have.... it's something you do not have... it's something you do not have...
Yes, much better. AIN'T!
|
David Gilmour - On An Island (Dec 20, 2006 - 05:22) | The guitar solo is a bit on the safe side but still great. I would have played it bit dirtier and emotional but that's just me.
|
Cracker - Sidi Ifni (Dec 18, 2006 - 05:24) | Reminds me a lot of On the Road Again.
Does make me want to take a road trip as well. Excellent. Giving it a 9.
