I just don't get it I guess - I am underwhelmed by him. I don't hate his music, it's pleasant enough. But it isn't outstanding either. I think of DMB and of Hootie and the Blowfish as being of the same ilk - but maybe that's just me.

Utterly convincing artist, giving his heart and soul on stage. I think he's one of the best.

This is the kind of song that makes you stop working, close your eyes, and weep with a mixture of joy and sadness, reflecting on the happy and painful events that have occurred in your life. And you're not even exactly sure how the song can elicit such a response, but it does. And then you get back to work in your cubicle, not caring who sees you wiping your eyes.

Yeah, it's that kind of song.

I saw these guys Friday night in Madison and they totally killed. Definitely one of those bands you need to see live b/c there is a whole new energy and sound to them compared to the cd.

Critics love him mostly because he draws so effortlessly and affectlessly from so many influences. He picks bits from a mad bag and shakes them together into a surprisingly punchy mix. I personally think he's brilliant.

Well SFBDA, I respect your opinion, though I disagree with it. I love her music the more I hear it. It has certainly matured over the years. Also, some of it can be, in thought, rather upbeat. What I think I like most about her music though is the soulful feel of it. It's a feeling of perseverance, a sense of wisdom gained and character being built.
