Santana Brothers - Luz Amor Y Vida (Mar 19, 2013 - 05:56) | as a long time fan of Santana, this song is quite disappointing. Sounds like bad elevator music. Also sounds like the type of music that grocery stores play to lull you into submissiveness and complacency.

Junip - Chickens (Dec 12, 2012 - 13:06) | Ha!! Grammarcop wrote:Good song. I hope it gets nominated for the Pouletzer Prize.
Junip - Chickens (Dec 12, 2012 - 13:06) | sounds a little like the Tragically Hip, but less complex than their music
Incubus - Drive (Dec 03, 2012 - 10:15) | this band and this song have no place on RP. put them back on the pop station
Phish - Birds of a Feather (Nov 01, 2012 - 10:39) | I agree! Would love some lives stuff.
HonduranRed wrote:I will see u boys tomorrow night in Colorful Colorado!!!!! ...I sure wish RP would play some live phish—-studio stuff is fine, but we don't go to the concerts to hear the studio versions....

Radiohead - Black Star (Nov 01, 2012 - 10:14) | Agree!
myasma wrote:I had made my way across Canada via the small roads, and eventually landed in a small record store in Toronto. I needed music, and I selected two CDs and took them to the counter. The guy who owned the store looked at each of them, and held them up, one at a time. "This one," he started, holding up a Nick Drake CD, "changed my life."
He put it down and picked up The Bends, and said, "This one will change yours."

The Raconteurs - Top Yourself (Oct 15, 2012 - 11:17) | sounds too much like the AWFUL (but everyone loves him) Jack White. Really? Jack White's album cover makes him look like a Wraith, too. just another reason to dislike him. But the raconteurs aren't great either.
Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees (Aug 29, 2012 - 13:16) | was listening to to King of Limbs yesterday. Such a stark contrast!!!!! amazing band. simply amazing
Rubén González - Mandinga (Jun 12, 2012 - 11:05) | very pleasant to listen to on a dreary afternoon while i suffer at work with a cold :)

Radiohead - Staircase (Mar 30, 2012 - 04:17) | For the 3rd or 4th time RP has played radiohead around this time in the morning this week. Thank you! It gets my day going!

The Tragically Hip - Fiddlers Green (Mar 27, 2012 - 10:41) | stabby wrote: Yes a great unknown tune from this band. They lean towards more rocky tunes for sure - New Orleans is Sinking, 50 Mission Cap, Nautical Disaster, Blow at High Dough, Ahead by a Century, etc. Unique voice that may take some adjusting to for new listeners but well worth the effort.

If you like this slowish tune, you may like Bobcaygeon, Wheat Kings, 38 Years Old. But Fiddler's Green definitely has a more Celtic / Maritime feel to it that is not so prevalent in their other stuff. love the Hip, esp the ALL the songs you listed up there.
The Shins - Bait And Switch (Mar 21, 2012 - 12:00) | these guys are growing on me. cool, kinda funky, great lead singer voice. like and like again!

Younger Brother - Shine (Mar 20, 2012 - 08:08) | aziakut wrote: Less self indulgent than Coldplay. Far more melodic and interesting. Good harmonies too. Agree completely. you'll not hear this on the regular radio stations. i like it that way.

Calexico - Deep Down (Mar 20, 2012 - 08:04) | these guys are just great. haven't heard a song i didn't like.

This and OK Computer are the best albums of any band. in order of amazing-ness (keeping in mind that their inherent qualities are likened to children in the same family, look similar but astonishingly different):
1. In Rainbows 2. Ok Computer 3. Amnesiac 4. Hail to the Thief 5. Kid A 6. Pablo Honey
But I love them all and can't wait to see them for my first time (out of 18 years of fan-ship) in DC in June! YAY!!

Mazzy Star - Fade Into You (Oct 04, 2011 - 13:55) | aaahhh the college days! That's when I first heard and fell in love with Mazzy Star!
Yes - Roundabout (Sep 20, 2011 - 12:00) | sucko barfo. let's keep it limited to the past 20 years, please!
Steve Forbert - Good Planets Are Hard To Find (Sep 20, 2011 - 08:39) | cc_rider wrote: Hmmm... Does Bill have a theme going here?
I cannot explain why I like Ol' Steve so much. Sorta reminds me of Shel Silverstein (sp?).
I agree about Shel! Great stuff!
Calexico - Alone Again Or (Sep 16, 2011 - 13:08) | This band consistently impresses me. The horns in other settings could be cheesy and reminiscent of spaghetti westerns. However, they put it all together quite nicely.
Radiohead - Codex (Aug 29, 2011 - 10:43) | dunno, but it better be soon!!
grant wrote:when will they tour again?

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Dull Life (Jun 22, 2011 - 17:55) | I hate to say it but these girls just sound trashy. I'm all for chick bands but you can't sound like tramps. yuck
Arvo Pärt - Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten (Jun 22, 2011 - 17:48) | not my fave but definitely enjoy the down tempo. too bad some other people don't appreciate the hard work Bill does to make our music listening experience amazing. thanks RP!
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge (Jun 01, 2011 - 09:34) | Brings me back to my high school days. I grew to hate this song bc it was SO overplayed. Now it's nice to here it rarely played and is a bit refreshing. Thanks RP!!
Vast - Loneliness Is Fine (Apr 02, 2011 - 16:20) | like a mix between the doors and depeche mode... would fit in well with a late 80's vampire in a city at nigh sound track
Neil Young - Rockin' In The Free World (Mar 09, 2011 - 16:23) | I love Radio Paradise, but have heard Neil Young about 3 times today. please, for the love of all things good, lay off the Neil Young! You're killing me!
Phoenix - Rome (Feb 28, 2011 - 12:39) | These guys are so much fun to listen to.
Rod Stewart - Reason To Believe (Feb 20, 2011 - 16:09) | this song was marginal in the 90s. in theory it's a good song, however, mainstream radio in my formative years ruined it. boohoo
Radiohead - Separator (Feb 19, 2011 - 15:50) | just downloaded my copy. Word on the street is it takes a full night and day of constant listening to start to grasp it. :)
Foo Fighters - Everlong (acoustic) (Feb 19, 2011 - 15:06) | this actually is one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm all for "unplugging". However, this one just lost its pizazz . :(

i didn't think about it until you mentioned it and I might have to agree. But nothing can come close to Let Down. I also agree with the notion that music is "hard hitting when you're in your early 20s. That's so true! So for me, OK computer is for my 20s. In Rainbows is for my 30s. I sure hope they come up with something when I'm in my 40s. Don't break up!!!

Radiohead - Reckoner (Feb 10, 2011 - 15:25) | ahhh! the gorgeous tones of my favorite band. love it when you guys play Radiohead!
