(Feb 17, 2010 - 13:30) | i was actually talking about this the other day... it's funny how one of the most badass bands on the planet references Tolkien at will... and gets away with it, is revered even. can you imagine a band referencing 'the Rings' these days? they'd be laughed off the radio! don't get me wrong - i love the Tolkien books, and the movies were great... but it just doesn't occupy the same place in collective culture it did 40 years ago, thanks in large part to the Jackson movies and their ardent fans...
