Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh, my little girl
All I ever wanted, all I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable
All I ever wanted, all I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted, all I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted, all I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Enjoy the silence

This is among the weakest songs on Violator. I'd say you will be richly rewarded if you pick up this album. Black Celebration is good, Some Great Reward sounded great to me when I first heard it, but might be a little dated now. Anything earlier than that is going to sound pretty dated these days. As for the more recent stuff, I thought Exciter was great, Playing the Angel gets regular rotation at my house, and Songs of Faith and Devotion was pretty damn good (though it's not so recent, I guess - I'm getting old!). Edit: and how could I forget to mention it! Go hunt out Agent Orange, an instrumental piece that was a bonus track on the Music For The Masses cd. Beautiful, melancholy piece of music. Edit Edit: In fact, let me save you the trip. Agent Orange |

I'd never really properly listened to DM before joining RP, so this station has really deepened my appreciation of these electro-Goth merchants. I just love poppy sounds with dark lyrics. Is that Dave Gahan psychically tortured, or what? Still, his pain results in our pleasure :) |

| ziakut (A place with air, water and chocolate.) | Posted: Jan 27, 2011 - 09:34 Silence? What silence? I hear Depeche Mode. Glad it's this song. One of my favorites of theirs. I like the near atonal melody in the verse just before the bridge in the arrangement. Also that recurring keyboard melody is hypnotic. |
