Didn't even get into this album until junior year of college, 1989. Glad I did. This and Achtung Baby are still their best ever.

Yeah, yeah: Overwrought, over produced, etc. Still holds up for me.

What you're saying is that it is of its time - which it is.
I gave it 8 because I really like it.
However, that is because I haven't heard it in over a year.
If I heard it more often I'd have it down as 4.

U2's best album, IMO (although War is on up there, as well).

Daniel Lanois (also credit to Eno) can elevate people to a whole nother level.

 FACT

If you don't believe me, just check out Emmylou Harris Wrecking Ball album, sometime ...

A solid 11!  Not so  much for the music itself, but for the memories, places, and people that it conjures up.

I really like this Tune !!! It has such an amount of atmosphere - But I don`t like U2 especially Bono anymore.... Because they are to much involved in this nasty Illuminati, Freemason, Satanic stuff !!! Don`t know if they were in 1984 already... But if John lennon was, I think more and more that it is necessary to sell your soul to get rich and famous !!!

I saw this tour 1984 in Austin, TX. I feel a rush of emotion everytime I transport back to that monemt. Does anyone remember the days when you would see a concert like this one and find yourself a week later just starring off into space reliving it? I have a couple, this one and Peter Gabriel - Shock the Monkey tour {#Notworthy}

Or perhaps they stayed relevant because they are a good band who is not particularly creative, but is remarkably consistent and safe. As a fan you pretty much know what you are going to get which is fine, but hardly avant garde or reinventing themselves. To me they sound pretty much the same as they always have which is pretty good consistent pop. Nothing wrong with that, they always professed themselves that their goal was to be the biggest band in the world. I assure you don't get to be that by being creative and interesting.{#No} The market does not allow for that anymore like it did in the old days when you had The Beatles who went in all types of directions and still maintained mass commercial success. Ain't that way no more, if you wanna make a million dollars, you better play it safe or it ain't gonna happen. Oh and they are a really, really good live band, Bono has one of the purest voices you will ever hear in person.{#Yes}
