![]() The Best of The Call (1989) [ larger cover art ] |
I been in a cave
For forty days
Only a spark
To light my way
I wanna give out
I wanna give in
This is our crime
This is our sin
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the pain
And the grief
Through the lies
Through the storms
Through the cries
And through the wars
Oh, I still believe
Flat on my back
Out a sea
Hopin' these waves
Don't cover me
I'm turned and tossed
Upon the waves
When the darkness comes
I feel the grave
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the cold
And the heat
Through the pain
And through the tears
Through the crowds
And through the cheers
Oh, I still believe
I'll march this road
I'll climb this hill
Down on my knees if I have to
I'll take my place
Up on this stage
I'll wait 'til the end of time
For you like everybody else
I'm out on my own
Walkin' the streets
Look at the faces
That I meet
I feel like I like I want to go home
What do I feel
What do I know
But I still believe
I still believe
Through the shame
And through the grief
Through the heartache
Through the years
Through the waiting
Through the years
For people like us
In places like this
We need all the hope
That we can get
Oh, I still believe

| wbeaver | Posted: Jun 14, 2012 - 07:25 I'd agree with both the positive and the negative comments about this song. Michael Beene(sp?) played a great bass live (six-string fretless, IIRC) - among the better talents I saw during that time period for that instrument. |
| Troutnskibum | Posted: Jun 14, 2012 - 07:24 Really, Bill? Really...?? Eye of the Tiger next? |

| Stingray (NWO reloaded) | Posted: Jan 07, 2012 - 15:14 BAD - BAD - BAD! The worst song ever recorded? The worst cover ever created? |
| Byronape (Snorkeling in the River Styx) | Posted: Aug 02, 2011 - 19:36 This song is gloriously cheesy. I really like it and enjoyed Lost Boys. Being a dude, I never got the Corymania but the chick was kinda hot. |
| hear_my_name | Posted: Mar 29, 2011 - 14:46 I like this one mainly for the feelings it invokes - very much tied in my mind to spring of my junior year in high school. (And yes, I loved The Lost Boys!) Good times. ![]() |
| scrubbrush (Sea of Calm) | Posted: Mar 29, 2011 - 14:42 i remember this song from The Lost Boys... never knew it was by The Call though |
| coyotexxx2 (Enjoying Paradise) | Posted: Mar 29, 2011 - 14:41 I try not to be critical but I despise the 80's synthesizer. |

He and Robbie Robertson helped produce some of their albums and played here and there. Isn't is fun that Hudson's style is so recognizable? You should hear him on "The Walls Came Down." |
| WonderLizard (2,755.46 mi. due east of Paradise) | Posted: Nov 23, 2010 - 19:18 I get a kick—and am a little dismayed by its shallowness—of the commentary that automatically dismisses anything with a production date of 1980 through 1989, as if the era is some sort of poison—no relation to the band. The Call may have used some of the production values that were common to the time, but the songwriting was stellar and the arrangements first rate. Great rock'n'roll. |
| Derecho (A Land Without Traffic Lights) | Posted: Nov 23, 2010 - 19:16 Garth Hudson on keyboards?!?! |

It would be awesome if Bill would spin at least "The Stranger," which is in the library, but has never been played. |

I see your point about Michael, he does come across that way sometimes, but I loved this band and saw them once when I was in college. He was, (I googled and found out he died yesterday) a very talented man. |
