I'd agree with both the positive and the negative comments about this song.  Michael Beene(sp?) played a great bass live (six-string fretless, IIRC) - among the better talents I saw during that time period for that instrument.

Most likely. He and Robbie Robertson helped produce some of their albums and played here and there. Isn't is fun that Hudson's style is so recognizable? You should hear him on "The Walls Came Down."

I get a kick—and am a little dismayed by its shallowness—of the commentary that automatically dismisses anything with a production date of 1980 through 1989, as if the era is some sort of poison—no relation to the band. The Call may have used some of the production values that were common to the time, but the songwriting was stellar and the arrangements first rate. Great rock'n'roll.

I see your point about Michael, he does come across that way sometimes, but I loved this band and saw them once when I was in college. He was, (I googled and found out he  died yesterday) a very talented man.
