Misdirection, excellent. Ignorance and racism are convenient labels to slap on people you can't engage in honest discussion. Entirely untrue when applied to the group you slur, but it does take the focus off of the issues. Is it possible people are expressing displeasure by constitutionally protected means in the best spirit of the country? It may be worthwhile to greater understanding for all of us if you were to reduce your vitriol and increase your dialog. These are not sports teams. We all choose to live here, we all must choose how - together.

His current drummer, Steve Ferrone, is the guy who played drums so well for Average White Band in the 70s (circa Cut the Cake). Pocket drummers are money.

Okay, I am definitely of that first "MTV generation" (I'll never forget in the 80s when we first got cable and how psyched I was to watch MTV).....but I always liked when they ate Alice in Wonderland as a red-inside cake.
Maybe now I'd find it stupid.....but I loved it then.

Every time I hear this song, I remember the MTV video with Alice in Wonderland and Tom as the Mad Hatter. Wonderful memories.

This isn't the standard Tom Petty (Breakdown, American Girl) and so it gets big points in my book for being something so different.

I didn't like this song back when it was released (probably b/c it was such a departure what with the sitar and all) but it grew on me tremendously over the years. Really dig it now.

It's easily the best Tom Petty song ever. I ain't kidding. Folks perceive things differently. The other "great hits" by Petty seem too trite to me in comparison to this. (And I mean trite in terms of music, not lyrics.)

Sounds like more people like this TP song then don't. Not that the tyranny of the masses is perfect, but I tend to trust it in matters of taste on RP.
