Just outstanding (it's a 10 for sure). I search for bands who have this groove and when I find them I become content! Like Porcupine Tree. or Blackleaf.... it's just a nice place to be, like a warm breezy summer day. With sunshine.{#Flamed} ( 21 degrees with mixed precip-APRIL 14!)

I always wondered about the chant, I knew it was from a football/soccer match, but I never knew anything else. should have known that the RP community would have already answered my query!

Might be my favorite individual Pink Floyd song of all time. went through an era listening to pillow of winds and fearless every night before I could fall asleep.

Great track from an under-appreciated album.  Somehow,  the closing futbol chant really fits ...

It's still the Liverpool anthem. A couple of seasons ago I went to Anfield, supporting the away team, for a cup game. The Kop sang You'll Never Walk Alone before KO and it made the hairs rise on the back of my neck. It's especially poignant post-Hillsborough, where so many Liverpool fans died. I never understood why it appears in this song, but it's fine by me that it does as I've always had a soft spot for scousers, Red and Blue.

Also puzzled.. quick search reveals this, not really sure it provides any real answer

Pink Floyd is so creative and good that even deaf people I know like to listen to Floyd.
Deaf friends like it great just as long as you turn it up loud enough for them to be able to feel the music!

Their most common question was "Can't you turn it up more?" If only they could have heard how loud i already had the volume once it was maxed out! =-)

I actually play a version in standard tuning that sounds almost-close-enough. Just walk up the A string to play the main riff, and hit the open strings when it seems appropriate.  Played it once with a guy who does it in open G like romeotuma says and they made a nice sort of counter point to each other. Mind you, his version in open G definitely sounded closer to Gilmour's than mine. Sometimes it's nice to not have to re-tune though.

Very interesting!

Neighbor made a cd with this on it. First thought: it is awesome. Second thought it was made after Dark Side and that the cover was a turtle. Turns out it was made before Dark Side and the cover art is a human ear. ftw!

Sometimes it is nice to not know what is reality.

Well, having been born in Liverpool... I would be very bad if I did not reply to this..
At the end it is You Will Never Walk Alone...

This is a great tune by Gerry and the Pacemakers... .and often it is sung at Liverpool Football Club..

Also... for more detailed history.. its a Rodgers and Hammerstein song...
