That's correct.  Blind belief in something doesn't make it true, either.

Nice transition Bill! Going from a song about being God to a song about being Godless...love it.

i second that... and will point out the entire album follows a overarching story line - and even has a distinct melodic theme. so in the continuing discussion about potential plagerism in this song, i'll point out that since this song is merely part of a whole (as is true of most songs, from my experience... for what that's worth), and perhaps it is prudent to reserve judgement until one has given ear to the entire story.

The sublime Dandy Warhols. Love this song. Comparisons to 'my sweet lord' - my god!  temperament, tone, mood, emotion - nothing like it - dont take this stuff too literally!!

We often worry too much about litigation and not enough about sharing, learning and honouring those that teach us. Homage or rip off? I'd say this is a statement about both.

Granted this is a great sound and I'd love to hear more from this group, but I simply can't stop myself from hearing the "My Sweet Lord" guitar riffs. I understand it may a common guitarist's chord progression and rhythm, but this is so blatant... and before anyone says "Bug George ripped off "He's So Fine..."" let me stop them in their tracks... the guitar riff in "My Sweet Lord" is not in the Shirelle's "He's So Fine"... so that is a moot point in the first place. Yes, this is a good song, catchy, but the obvious similarities between it and "My Sweet Lord" make it too derivative for me to score above a decent 6. That being said, I do want to hear more from the Dandy Warhols... Cheers

And since George ripped off the Chiffons to create My Sweet Lord (as determined by the courts), this DW song may have been made as poetic justice.
Besides, in this case, George can't sue (but Olivia might!)
I like this song and band, but geeez c'mon...what a blatant rip off from George Harrison. I have to work really hard to not hear My Sweet Lord. When I do occasionally have success, I enjoy it. It doesn't happen often.

Very good, now seems obvious but I hadn't yet connected them. I feel an unusual resonance with the simple strumming progression of both songs (Godless, My Sweet Lord), as if they strike in me the same chord.

I once heard that the degree of an artists creativity depends on the obscurity of their inspiration. Guess this is a case study on that.

I just think it's a good song. Best of the Dandy albums out to date.
