Stayed true to the things I knew when I was younger
And food and love was all but left to hunger
'Cause when I stray from my truth as I grow older
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger
I think about you on a moonlit night
And the stars all seem to weep
When there's so much to lose
There's never any time for sleep
Look at me doing all these things without you
We always laughed, and you were untrue
Where was it we tried hard not to go to?
I think that's how I finally came through
All the things we took for granted
The words still live on in my head
All the times I took for granted
All the words I never said
I think about you in the moonlit night
And the stars all seem to weep
When there's so much love to give
There's never any time for sleep, yeah.
So I stayed true to the things I knew when I was younger
And human life was all but left to hunger
'Cause when I stray from the truth as I grow older
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger
With or without you
With or without you
With or without you.

She should have been at the gig where people had paid good money to see her and not going off to something else making her late. The gig itself was so bad we walked out half way (a VERY rare event for me). So that is two strikes for Beth Live then. . . Having said that, Beth is still on high rotation at Poacher mansions and I still love listening to her. She gets a lot of play at the oldsaxon hall, too, but I remember seeing her once in Canada. At that gig she had a small band with her in a nice intimate venue. I could not hear her singing, I could not hear her guitar, I could only hear the massive bass booming over everything, and I mean everything. That bass could have drowned out a jet engine in the same room! At the time I blamed the sound guy, but maybe it's just that Beth sucks at live performance. I believe I left early. And carrying on. I watched her live performance on the recent live iTunes gigs at the Roundhouse. Got through the first three or four tracks and gave up again. Such a shame, I really, really want to enjoy her playing live. |

I have seen her live some years ago, and it is not her natural place and she was clearly uncomfortable performing then, giving a somewhat lacklustre and disappointingshow. One of those artists who is better in the studio - but that's fine, cos I mainly listen at home. |
