I can see you in the morning when you go to school,
Don't forget your books, you know you've got to learn the golden rule,
Teacher tells you stop your play and get on with your work
And be like Johnnie – too-good, well don't you know he never shirks
– he's coming along!
After School is over you're playing in the park
Don't be out too late, don't let it get too dark
They tell you not to hang around and learn what life's about
And grow up just like them – won't let you work it out
– and you're full of doubt
''Don't do this and don't do that
What are they trying to do? ''
– Make a good boy of you
''Do they know where it's at?''
Don't criticise, they're old and wise
Do as they tell you to
Don't want the devil to
Come and put out your eyes
Maybe I'm mistaken expecting you to fight
Or maybe I'm just crazy, I don't know wrong from right
But while I am still living I've just got this to say
It's always up to you if you want to be that
want to see that
want to see it that way
– you're coming along!

| sportskid (Earth) | Posted: Apr 09, 2013 - 12:42 The pinnacle song of their collection. A true volume turner.............. |
| markg063 (Massachusetts) | Posted: Apr 04, 2013 - 06:54 I remember being in junior high and my friend's brother came back from college with this album and said we "had" to listen to this. Damn, we loved this. Good to hear the old Supertramp. Great memories of running to his room to listen to it after school.... |
| Zeito (Sieur du Lhut) | Posted: Apr 04, 2013 - 06:51 I've never heard this on the local Clear Channel classic dreck station. Pretty cool. |
| Sloggydog (UK) | Posted: Mar 09, 2013 - 00:49 Damn. Thought I was getting some classic The The at the start. Instead I am still waiting for this song to start - oop there it goes. Not really for me and it keeps stopping again. |
| midigitguy (Paradise, California) | Posted: Jan 31, 2013 - 11:50 Great read about making of this and lots of other excellent music.. By Ken Scott (with the prolific Bobby Owsinski), engineer/producer extraordinaire... click here DO remember to link to it via RP! |

| 3Dave (Paradise, California) | Posted: Jan 31, 2013 - 11:45 Nice little extra intro by Bill today...very cool... although I must admit "their later works" i.e. "Breakfast in America" are, of course, what then had me back tracking to albums like this one. But yes this whole album was the peak of what Roger and Rick could achieve. When I saw them in concert and that harmonica started?... sends a chill even now... see my journal entry. |
| cmarcan (Nanaimo, BC) | Posted: Jan 31, 2013 - 11:40 One of the albums I totallly wore out then I was a kid. Had a million skips and I still kept playing it. |
| ansugon (Mirkwood) | Posted: Jan 31, 2013 - 11:40 "...it stands head and shoulders above their later work..." Well said, Bill, well said. |
| Papasmeg (Lille France) | Posted: Jan 10, 2013 - 12:54 Live this was the most outstanding ST song. Still think its stood the test of time. 9 for me. |
| kingart (Brooklyn NY) | Posted: Jan 10, 2013 - 12:50 Expecting to see Bronson or Eastwood any second now. |
| philinnz (Wellington, New Zealand) | Posted: Nov 29, 2012 - 18:31 Lets Turn up the volume!!! - |
| Kokoloco53 (Southeastern Arizona) | Posted: Nov 03, 2012 - 15:41 Hadn't heard this one in ages, though have their awesome album Even in the Quietest Moments. First time I heard this was at a friend's in Flagstaff Arizona who worked at a Circles record store and bought all kinds of stuff. Billy D also turned me onto my first listen of Genesis, Trick of the Tail?, I didn't appreciate that music until later as well. Great stuff. |
| ziakut (Right Here) | Posted: Oct 29, 2012 - 10:26 This wonderful band kind of got swallowed up by A.M. radio during the 'Breakfast In America' days. This album, though it predates BIA...is absolutely what I really appreciate about this band. Most who were introduced to this band from their more popular tunes...never got to hear this amazing stuff. It's too bad, but kudos to RP for bringing it back to life. |
| Carl (The Summit City) | Posted: Oct 08, 2012 - 10:15 I regret not appreciating ST in the day; although I was aware of them, I didn't pay enough attention and lacked the control over the music I heard then compared with now. Thanks again, Bill & Rebecca, for RP! |

Just recently my daughter (aged 10) asked me whether this song is from Pink Floyd, which, in a way, could be very much so! Turn up the volume !! (Oh, oops, its half pas two in the morning here: excuse me, neighbours |
| merkin_muffley (Down the rabbit hole.....) | Posted: Aug 27, 2012 - 10:33 I love Supertramp and one of the number of bands i would have really liked to see live. Won't happen now as Roger Hodgson has disappeared up his own back passage. The album Paris was always on my turntable back in the day, actually i have no Supertramp on CD, entire catalogue on vinyl. |

| Bobert_ParkCity (Actually, No longer in Park City Utah) | Posted: Jul 05, 2012 - 22:39 May be my favorite Supertramp, tho the whole album is killer. They did a tour with a mad film of a train careering down the tracks for Rudy ("Rudy took a train to nowhere..."). Love it and it brings back days of the Mobile Fidelity Masters. My poor bleeding ears. |

This song is a wonderful example of the best off their early albums. Thanks RP. |
