![]() Starfish (1988) [ larger cover art ] |
Too dangerous to keep.
Too feeble to let go.
And you want to bite the hand.
Should have stopped this long ago.
Go now, you've been set free.
Another month or so you'll be gorging on me ("poisoning me" on 2nd and 3rd times)
With your lovely smile.
I see you slither away with your skin and your tail,
Your flickering tongue and your rattling scales
Like a real reptile.
Had you coiled around my arm.
How could you ever know
How I loved your diamond eyes?
But that was long ago. (Chorus)
And I should have believed Eve.
She said we had to blow.
She was the apple of my eye.
It wasn't long ago. (Chorus)
| tutakea | Posted: Mar 26, 2013 - 07:36 perfect example of a song where all the worst things of the 80s come together. absolutely horrible! |

| dave3ld (What a great station!) | Posted: Mar 13, 2012 - 07:55 This track is at least a 9. One of the least "forced" sounding albums of the time. Laid back but not sloppy. One of my top ten albums of all time! |

| tutakea | Posted: Jan 13, 2012 - 08:59 everything from this band belongs to the very worst of the 80s. it´s like having a teeth extracted without anesthetics. uaaarghhhh :-((( |
| Stingray (NWO reloaded) | Posted: Dec 12, 2011 - 14:32 Bought this album at the time and disliked it! Sounds like new, like something different today. Still not my style - but not bad neither! |
| iTuner | Posted: Dec 08, 2011 - 21:26 Good to hear this song again. It's been a long time. Sure was a big part of my teenage years. |

| shakitten | Posted: Oct 20, 2011 - 09:30 Too repetitive for me. Kinda bland. Meh. |

| Jack_Jefferson (Columbus, OH) | Posted: Mar 25, 2011 - 07:13 Everytime I hear those opening notes, I think of skiing. Why? Was this used in a commercial with skiing? I'm going to add this to my MP3 player before the next time I go skiing. I'll see if I get the same ambiance. |

| mapman (East Coast USA) | Posted: Jan 31, 2011 - 12:27 Their second most recognizable tune? Lots of interesting and more recent material from The Church as well. They've evolved into art rockers of sorts in a sense these days. Seen them live twice recently....great shows! I'd like to see them expand on their vocal capabilities..... Kilbey's good but not versatile enough as a vocalist to match the other aspects of the group. Why doesn't their tune "Myrhh" get more love here? Too psychedelic or something maybe? |

| MojoJojo (Indianapolis, IN USA) | Posted: Mar 10, 2010 - 04:34 It seems like The Church is in higher rotation this year. S'OK by me. If those guitar hooks don't catch ya, check yer pulse! |
| freejgar (Oregon) | Posted: Feb 26, 2010 - 11:38 Way ahead of their time. Most of there stuff could be released today and not sound dated. I work in a winery and we listen to shuffled music all day. probably more than any other band save Daniel Lanois, people always ask me "Who is this?, it's good" when the Church are played. A testament to foundational music. |
| Papernapkin (Mountain View, CA) | Posted: Feb 26, 2010 - 11:32 I thought it was Blue Oyster Cult. It sounds so similar. |
