I always kind of thought of them as the Paul Desmond Quartet.  I have just about everything they did with Desmond in the band and a bunch of other Desmond stuff solo and with others.  I only have three or four CDs that have Brubeck without Desmond.

My family had a restaurant in Dartmouth, Devon...and for a 6-month period I worked the floor, drinks, music, etc...if I felt it was gonna be a good one I always started the evening with this gem...I can even smell the rum punch!

R.I.P., Joe Morello. Brubeck heard this rhythm from Turkish street musicians, who told him "this is like Blues to us". Morello translated beautifully, and an icon was born.
