| pianocomposer (USA) | Posted: Oct 29, 2005 - 07:45 The Dan is just as good as ever...this album won a Grammy so somebody who likes it gave it some props. sorry if some of you are bored by high quality pop jazz. |

This is probably the least annoying / cheesy / soul-sucking Steely Dan song. Ergo, it is "acceptable." When it is played, God merely slaps a kitten; --d ha! I love this comment. :) |

Huh? I don't think so... It's from "Two Against Nature", which wasn't released until February 2000. Another Dan track maybe, but not this one. Dave the pedant |

"Smooth Jazz" is probably neither smooth nor jazz. The new Steely Dan albums still have the cool horns and nice doses of backup singers, but to me they often sound like a drum machine on a factory-preprogrammed slow square beat. There's far less verve in them. I miss the tempo changes, I miss the tempo! I wish they would hire some more jazz people like they used to. |

| Red_Dragon (somewhere in the great midwest) | Posted: Apr 14, 2004 - 13:23 i've been a Dan fan forever, and, to me, this album is perhaps the steeliest dan ever - love it! |
| GregX59 (Omaha, NE) | Posted: Apr 14, 2004 - 13:18 Like most 'Dan tunes, it takes several listenings to pick up the subtleties. I have yet to find a Steely Dan tune that doesn't improve with each listen. For example, check out the guitar solo - so laid back you'll miss it if you don't pay attention. But worth the listen, it's way cool! |

| Roverfish (Tucson, AZ - Thanks for visiting, please drive through!) | Posted: Dec 14, 2003 - 14:06 This album cut pales in comparison to the live version they do on the concert DVD of the same name. Still a solid Dan tune. |

Without question, though if you go back to songs on the GAUCHO album, say, "Time Out of Mind," I get the impression Donald and Walter(moreso Walter) wrote about "mystical sphere(s) direct from Lhasa" and Chasing "the dragon" with a bit of (albeit winking) romantacism. |

Yes, ANOTHER drug themed tune from the Dan, but one that actually addresses addiction without romanticizing. Pretty catchy, too. The album TWO AGAINST NATURE continues to gain with each listening Romantism and Steely Dan are mutually exclusive. How about drippingly sarcastic? |
| randyman8 (Clarkston, MI) | Posted: Oct 03, 2003 - 16:11 Steely Dan makes some of the best music around. This is probably my fave song on the Two Against Nature CD. And yes, the live DVD version is awesome! Nice to see they are still making music that is on par, or at least very close to, their prime stuff from the 70's. I'm trying to get into the new Everything Must Go CD ... I heard Lunch With Gina yesterday on NPR and that's gotta be one of the best on that CD. Randy |
