Counting Blue Cars is a fantastic song - this song however, which I've never heard, would need to grow on me.

There are scads of influences in this song. Very eclectic, very RP. I love the Porcupine Tree-style drumming in the middle. 8 from the spaced Nottingham jury.

Occasionally appears to have a strain of Beatles melody in there ("We were talking... about the space between us all...")

I have this on DVD Audio Hi Res 5.1 Surround disc. Sound quality is very good and the use of surround really opens up all the soungs on this. A very enjoyable recording

Hahahaha!  I am totally with you on that!  I love love LOVE this song — thank you RP for introducing me to it, it's become one of my all-time favorites here.  (cannot stand "Counting Blue Cars") — and yeah, the cover art for this leaves something to be desired........a little "Children of the Corn", no?  creepy  EDIT:  actually I meant "Village of The Damned"

Always a pleasure to hear something off this album.  Just a great mixture.  That, and I'm a little bit sentimental for Dishwalla, from my early high school days.

Still an 8, simply because it put the disc on my "to-buy" list.

Dear Pinem, I submit, good music is good music no matter how old you are!

Nice juxtaposition of instruments and beat—would have preferred that the opening instruments been included throughout.  Haven't been to view the lyrics, so I stand to get educated.

I think you misunderstood my post, dude. I was making fun of the attitudes on RP that Porcupine Tree is wonderful and untouchable and that any band on Top 40 radio is automatically awful. I think those attitudes are silly. That was my point.

I saw these guys in concert a while back because they opened for another band I paid to see, and I ended up enjoying them more than the headliner. Very underrated band!!

The only thing hateful are your words and attitude. Dishwalla have been around about as long as Radiohead, put out far less music than either of these two bands. I don't think their as well known as Radiohead/Coldplay; whether they are better or not is matter of personal opinion.

I bought their first album, Pet Your Friends, when it was released. They had a very unique sound back then (early 90s), I think it has matured nicely over the years.

Give it a 7 for now.

I remember these guys I also got their first album, and remember something about blue cars I think. I chalked them up to being a one hit wonder (lay off me I was 10), but it looks like I might have to dig it up and give it another listen.

Gee now I'm confused. I thought I was defending Dishwalla. I heard quite a bit of similarity between the vocals and Thom Yorke, still do - but the ratings are still hanging in there 2 points below any Radiohead dredge.
