There's a light overhead, overhead
In the sky overhead, overhead
And I'm with you now
In body in music and mind
And we're silent and still
Everything's so out of control tonight
In a plane that's flying fast
At a speed that makes me cry
If you left me now
To trouble that won't let me lie
I'm awake all the time
You know whwre I stand
Holding my plastic gun
Turn and run
You cold killers of innocence
Against us there's no defence
Your flash and your wickedness
You can't break out of
Tie my hands behind my back
Put a gag on top of my mouth
But I won't give you up
Til silverware's covered in dust
And my shoes fall apart
The tumbleweed runs over my desert heart
So turn and run
You cold killers of innocense
Against us there's no defense
Your flash and your wickedness
Will surely bring you down again
Somehow we stay afloat
We won't give in to the undertow
Somethings you will never know
But you can't break out of
Coming down
But you can't break out of
Slowing down
But you can't break out of
| ziakut (Slightly North of Obvlivion) | Posted: Jun 08, 2013 - 15:55 This version is slightly different in cadence and mix from the UK release entitled "One Nil". I think I like this version slightly better. |

| Gaucho36 | Posted: May 27, 2012 - 02:36 Love Neil.....and this song too. Check out the live recording of it...even better and more emotional in my opinion |
| RoelantSiekman (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) | Posted: May 10, 2012 - 03:32 Love this kind of surprises. Never heard it before (guess i didn't come around much), but find it instantly brilliant. BTW (in regard to the lower remarks about a spark of Beatles/George Harrison): today this song was followed by George Harrison - I'd Have You Anytime. Bill 's on a role! (or rather Rebecca?) |
| rjewyo (Ventura, CA) | Posted: Mar 19, 2012 - 09:03 I hear a little Beatles riff...maybe a little George as well! |

HAven't really loved what I've heard of the new Crowded House, and I cringed at two songs that Neil's done with his wife (as the Pajama Club). Wouldn't call his new work boring and predictable...it's just jarring, like some evil witch had stolen his mojo. Overall, though, I Iove almost everything that the Finn brothers have done. They've been great for decades. Cynaera, that's a great story about Neil. He sounds like a great guy... |
| Cynaera (In a hammock under my own vine and fig tree.) | Posted: Dec 03, 2011 - 11:45 I remember when I lived in Salem, Neil Finn stopped at a Portland radio station to do an interview to promote a series of performances he was doing in the area. He was jet-lagged to the eyeballs and had had less than four hours of sleep in the last couple of days or so, but his interview was one of the funniest, wittiest, most thought-provoking things I'd ever heard. He apologized in advance for anything he might say that would have to get censored, and then took Les Sarnoff (I think that's who conducted the interview - I could be wrong) on a wild ride through the land of the deranged and genius. And then he performed a couple of songs. Even with his hoarse morning voice and a guitar, he sounded amazing. It was about the best thing I could ever have hoped for. I love Neil Finn - the man and the music. |

If you've never heard Neil Finn before, there is a treasure trove of marvelous recordings by him, his brother Tim, and the bands that they've led, including Split Enz, & Crowded House. |
