| ricmo | Posted: Mar 22, 2012 - 19:55 This guy is just sad. A clown disguising himself as a pianist! And it's apparently working. Listen to anything Chucho Valdes has recorded and you'll never be able to listen to this guy again. Promise! |

| tobstar | Posted: Jan 27, 2010 - 03:23 isn't this just a ripoff of Asturias? At the start it was almost identical. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDAHl54V0CU |
| Nuance (Winnipeg) | Posted: Jan 24, 2010 - 14:21 Listening to his painful runs has given me the runs... |
| ambrebalte (Beijing) | Posted: Jan 03, 2010 - 19:39 most definitely not my cup of riojas... |
| muzik (Montana) | Posted: Jan 03, 2010 - 19:35 I do appreciate this man's piano playing. He is totally self-trained and very eccentric. George Winston came to our school a couple of years ago to show the kids some piano playing techniques. Very amazing...and never wears his shoes on stage. He also plays a mean guitar and harmonica! |

| EssexTex (Gitche Gumee) | Posted: Oct 22, 2009 - 08:28 midreaming wrote: I don't think his take on their stuff has a close relationship to the Doors as a band, but more to the music itself. Morrison was all about the primal, pelvic thrusting, pagan like base instinct stuff, psychedelic transcendence and trance states of mind. Winston's music reaches for transcendence but from a western mythological direction; ie - god, heaven and classical music. It's all heading toward trance states but from different directions. A whole CD though, covering music of the Doors? I'd be interested in hearing someone's opinion on "why the hell should he bother". The attempt seems more prone to criticism from both his fans and fans of the original artist. So why do it? Why do it?.....he was having a slow afternoon...nothing on the tv...or maybe he was high. |

As in "pretending" to play the notes? My perception is that he is a very creative and talented pianist. I'm a Doors fan AND I own a Winston boxed set. Great stuff when you're not in the mood for Major/Minor. |

| fncll (I Come from the Land Up Over) | Posted: Oct 01, 2009 - 12:14 The only reason I can't give this a 1 is because George Winston can certainly play. It's just the way he chooses to play that makes me feel those little pangs of nausea. I'm sure much of what I like does the same for others... but if I were ever to be sonically tortured to extract information upon which my life or death depended, a few discs of Winston would have me babbling like a baby. |
