A real switch from their original incarnation "Orchestra Shish Kabob," where they would just stand on stage and grill things.

Since when do they play West African pop music in Mexican restaurants? You were probably thinking of Senegalese nightclubs, but confused the two. It's an easy mistake to make for an American, which I can only assume you are.

Do not let morons like this ruin your opinion of ALL Americans . . . . PLEASE!

I really dig this style of guitar. I suppose the rating is so low because the vocals are somewhat inaccessible. Maybe some King Sunny Ade Bill?

A friend of mine got his doctorate detailing the music coming out of Ghana since the British pulled out some time ago. You hear western instruments (especially the brass) being put to use making otherwise traditional west African music. It's not really a hybridization, just that it has some instruments that sound non-African to us all. Anyway. To me it sounds very cool. 8

Thanks for the info Scott! Sounds like salsa or some other spanish/caribbean influence, and even a little bit of ska horns in there! I think that it is fascinating that this music would come out of Africa when I am leading myself to believe that it is caribbean/central american! The things that you learn on RP! I like the song!
