I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done
And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here
Light up, Light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes
It makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbyes
I nearly do
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say
Slower, slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads
Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Maybe something to the companion lyric: "Even if you cannot hear my voice, I'll be right beside you dear." I'll presume the singer and you (and Traffic) have different interpretations of the phrase. (If I missed the sarcasm in your post, please forgive. Sarcasm and cynicism don't always come through clearly in written form) |

As commented previously, each track is built on tedious 4/4 repetitions, with boring guitar rhythms, and equally tedious, monotonous vocals. Same to be said of Coldplay. Utter shite! Why they're as popular as they are, only speaks volumes for the simplistic and uneducated tastes of the popular masses. There. I've got it out of my system. And don't start me on Florence and her pathetic Machine please! I'm off to listen to The Enid for a 9/8 fix. I'm content to let the incisive, insightful commentary from this passionate young man speak for itself. OTOH, I repeat—I have never heard a bad song on Radio Paradise. |

After all the planet survived for 2 millenia without much democracy, and now in 100 years of it one might argue it's in a worse mess than ever. I have read some pretty frightening and breath-takingly crazy things in my day, but this one just might top the list. I really don't know why I bother. |

| shakitten (Trying to get back into a good dream) | Posted: Jan 11, 2012 - 17:52 Back in 2005, I lost two of my kittens. Callie went first...she had a stroke, and it broke my heart to say goodbye. After we put her down, this song seemed to be everywhere. I could hear her in the song, giving me a message to not grieve and that she was okay. Four months later, after not hearing Run for a couple of months, I heard it again everywhere. I had been suspecting that my beloved Bobbie Cat was having health issues, but I ignored it since Callie's death affected me so strongly. But the song would be played out of nowhere...RP, Clear Channel...and I felt like Callie was trying to reach me about something. I clung to Bobbie, but I finally had to realize that he was in pain. A trip to the vet showed a liver full of tumors. I had to say goodbye a second time in five months to a furry loved one. And Bobbie...Bobbie... Parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but Bobbie was in another category. He just was. I mourned him, a goofy, smelly cat, for two years before I could think of him and not cry. After Bobbie left, SP's Run seemed to have disappeared. It was just gone from the airwaves. I think Callie used it to comfort me, and then she told me that she would be waiting for Bobbie to take him home. And then they were gone, just like that. I hadn't heard Run after that for a while. Then, this past October, I heard it three times in a week. I thought this was odd. But the next week my ex called me to tell me that our little Chili had passed at a healthy 16 years old. She just curled up and fell asleep after having a day of being affectionate and playful. She was the last of the three, and went happily on her own terms. Good for her! I think Callie told me that she'd be there for Chili, just like she was for Bobbie. I really think so. And now tonight, as I listen to this song, I smile with wet eyes as I hear my precious fuzzy ones say hello to me and tell me that, somewhere, they're all together. And maybe, when it's my time, my fuzzy babies will come to take me home, too. And that's just fine by me. |

| SinisterDexter | Posted: Aug 14, 2011 - 08:44 Probably the only SP song I don't care for much, because of the way he sings the lyrics - sounds like he's pursing his lips; very odd. Although he clears it up in the chorus for some reason. |
| GuiltyFeat (Ra'anana) | Posted: Aug 14, 2011 - 08:42 I loved this song and I've never seen them live, but I've seen video of them performing before a live audience and it's transcendentally gorgeous. |

| boober (KC,Mo) | Posted: May 04, 2011 - 07:37 When I hear this song I'm reminded of the day my 22 year old son came into my house and said I should check this band out. Before that he was listening to a lot of crap(I mean rap).I'm happy and proud sharing musical tastes with my kids......something I couldn't do with my parents.I think a lot of us "boomers" share this generational gift. |
